Mercer certainly redeemed himself after losing to Kimbo last year. Boxing can stand proud once again, thanks to Ray Mercer.
And a young, prime Matt Skelton was completely embarrassed by a second rate MMA fighter. Just as Mercer was embarrassed by a street fighter in Kimbo. I wouldn't be bragging too much about Mercer knocking out a pathetic, unskilled Tim Sylvia. There isn't a person on this message board who is a bigger boxing fan than I am. However, let's be realistic and call it how it is. Boxing is an extremely limited fighting sport. In fact, it's the most limited of all the fighting sports in the world. Boxing is just a small part of fighting.
I don't necessarily like the UFC but I love MMA. I love boxing more but you get good fights in both sports. You all sell yourselves short if you don't watch some good MMA fights. Its not like every boxing card is full of great action or fights either. They both have a lot to offer "fight fans". You all need to stop with all this boxing vs MMA ****....that's like saying you don't like Football or Basketball b/c you have a preference for the other.
im a fan of both sports. i loved seeing guys like robbie lawler and scott smith go balls out twice. one of my favorite mma fights. but then again you cant forget the marquez/vasquez trilogy. both sports have their ups and downs... more ups though in my opinion. one question.. where did mercer's punch connect? i couldnt tell if it was the chin or body.
What I said is 100% truth. The difference between you and I, is that not only do I have first hand experience... but that I also don't let my love for boxing blind my common sense.
When a man is down you cannot hit him when two warriors fight. Why in certain other sports do i have to then see men mount eachother and do all the other crap.
