The only thing that matters is that they get a W. So what they have dry hump you a little to get er done. :yep
I have cable and a remote. I flip through channels and sometimes you stumble accross the spike channel. In which at any given moment you will see a dude holding on to a fence while another dude is behind him supposedly trying to slam him but it just looks like what I imagine gay intercourse looks like. I also stumbled accross the gay LOGO channel....which was similar.
It's common, yes. Because it's a fact that most MMA fighters aren't particularly skilled at striking - plus, they usually concerned about giving up their body to be wrestled down, so they keep their hands in a position more valuable in denying an attempted takedown. So, common sense reasons that against a boxer who has to win by knockout or TKO, you don't open yourself up to that.
That's how you develop an in depth knowledge of something? You channel surf? No wonder your knowledge of boxing is as **** poor as it is of MMA.
They can do whatever they want if it's within the rules - but that doesn't mean people have like it, or find it any less boring. Why people would want to watch a couple of guys roll around on the ground is beyond me.
Is there anything worse than these MMA dudes that call throwing punches "striking" "Ohh I just struck you there with my strike" :gayfight
:huh are you referring to my post? throwing punches = striking. i used the term for the purpose of comparing the two sports. and i was saying that in boxing punching is much more refined. thus ufc = crap.
Yeah, I hate that ****, too. I mean, it's not that boxers don't also talk ****, but it's specifically produced (i.e., acted out) by the UFC and played in those stupid pre-fight videos. The lead commentator (forget his name, not Joe Rogan, I actually like him) also adds to the WWE feeling. He's got that type of overdramatic voice. I keep on expecting him to say something like "Ooh! Into the turnbuckle!" I think the guys calling the WEC fights are much better. All that being said, I enjoy watching both, but enjoy boxing much more.
UFC and boxing have different skill sets. It's stupid to compare them. Also; Sylvia is ****. Take a look at Andrei Arlovski. He may be past his best now, but he has tremendous respect for boxing (As most MMA guys do) and has recruited Freddie Roach as his trainer... Bollocks it is! I consider boxing to be a more pure and useful fighting skill than wrestling due to the fact that 90 percent of streetfights are dudes straight dukin' it out. A style that completely ignores striking is way more limited if you ask me. Don't even start me on the competition "fighting" of most eastern martial arts. Guys training not to punch to the head in combat, and even worse, not being battle prepared to defend one? Ridiculous.
Worth a watch, even if you don't like MMA mabey you can gain a bit of respect for it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4hhcgdrTLE
MMA striking isn't boxing. You have to worry about and be ready to defense fists, elbows, knees, high kicks, low kicks, clinch fighting, ect... and that is just on the feet. Let alone takedowns, submissions, octagon control, ect... It's impossible to just go into an MMA fight, against a top notch all around MMA fighter and just box. You have to change your stance first off, which throws most things out the window, and you just can't be so technical and rely on the rules of boxing to save you from a different type of attack. In a boxing match under boxing rules? Of course a boxer would eat Chuck for lunch. If he was stupid enough to try and box with them in an MMA fight I am sure that they would too. I haven't said that a pro boxer couldn't win an MMA fight. It's a fight, and there is always a chance that he can land a perfectly place shot at the right time. However, there is no guarantee that it would knock his opponent out, and there is much larger likelyhood of a great grappler/wrestler getting his hands on a boxer, than there is of that boxer landing a knockout punch. That's just the reality of the situation. Now... if that pro boxer had great takedown defense (takes years and years of top notch training), and knew how to throw and defend elbows, knees, kicks, ect.... then off course he would be great in MMA. Although at that point he obviously isn't just a boxer.
