    Diego Coralles v Jose Luis Castillo - Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

    Coralles added the WBC lightweight title to his WBO lightweight title by TKO in round 10 of 12.
    Castillo would win the rematch 5 months later by TKO in round 4 of 12.

    Vicente Saldivar defeated Raul Rojas by TKO 15
    successfully defending his WBA & WBC Feather titles in LA California.

    Saldivar was to make 6 more successful defences of these titles.

    100th anniversary of the birth of the great Ron Richards.

    Career record: 95 wins (KO 57) + lost 26 losses (KO 8) and 10 draws.

    There was an excellent interview on DSS' radio show earlier this week with Ron's nephew, and an equally good article appears in the May edition of FIST magazine.

    Russell was another of my personal favourites. Never ever seen a boxer without a jab go further up the ranks than big Dave!

    May 9 was the birthdate of the last Australian to win 100 professional boxing contests. And he is a personal friend of Flamengo. In fact he could possibly be his only friend.
