Jeff ‘Flash’ Malcolm, one of Australia’s greatest ever southpaws, logs his 100th and final professional win against Sam Aukuso on the Gold Coast.

Malcolm’s career spanned 1971 to 2002, and included wins over later to be world champion Barry Michael, Laurence ‘Baby Cassius’ Austin, Billy Mulholland, Billy Moeller, Matt Ropis, Russell Sands, Andy Broome, Jimmy Brown, and about 90 others!

The Flash also went within a whisker of beating another of Australia's alltime greats Hector Thompson, losing by split decision.

Malcolm’s career record reads 100 wins (KO 36), 27 losses (KO 3) and 11 draws, and along the way he won the Commonwealth light welterweight title and numerous other national & international honours.

Birth date of the great Joe Louis (born Joseph Louis Barrow).

Joe Louis, nicknamed the 'Brown Bomber', was the world heavyweight boxing champion from 1937 to 1949. Louis helped re-elevate boxing in the post Dempsey era by establishing a reputation as an honest, hardworking fighter at a time when boxing was dominated by gambling and fixed fights.

Louis's championship reign lasted 140 consecutive months, during which he participated in 27 championship fights.

In 2005, Louis was named the greatest heavyweight of all time by the International Boxing Research Organization, and was ranked number one on Ring Magazine's list of 100 Greatest Punchers of All Time.
