Sugar Ray Robinson (USA) W 10 Jake La Motta (USA), Detroit. Their second bout in the space of 3 weeks and 3rd up to that time (at this point Robinson led 2-1 but the final count would be Robinson by a margin of 5-1). In 1986, only 3 years prior to his death, Robinson was best man at La Motta's wedding.

    We're not that smart...

Hey, most of the info is available on the Net - but the real aim is relive a bit of history and create some discussion at the same time Raff.

26/2/26 Tiger Flowers defeated Harry Grebb on points over 15 rounds for the World middleweight title at Madison Square Garden

Six months later in a rematch Flowers again outpointed Greb over 15 rounds. This was to be Greb's last fight. Many thought Greb had won both bouts.

Harry Greb died on 22/10/26 aged 32 years from complications after eye surgery.

Career records Flowers 119-15-7 Greb 103-8-3

The 29th is a big enough issue without throwing the 30th into the mix. Is Feb 30th the day before April 1st or the day after anyway?

(I don't work weekends so Feb 27th & 28th are up to someone else)

Adameck TKO Banks for the IBF CW title

Even though I dont mind Adameck Briggs should have won that last fight....granted I'm pro briggs....but he dropped Aameck in round 1 and Adameck got points deducted for foul play

Anyway I will be cheering for Adameck to drop Areola in the next few months

    March 1st.

1919. Albert Lloyd KO'd legend George Cook in 15 rounds at Sydney Stadium. This was during the second reign of Lloyds H/W Champ tenure.. Defending the crown 9 times in 13 months, Lloyd would relinquish and sail to the USA for an 18 month stint, before returning home and being recognised as Champ, and then sailing to England for further battles..

    * Legend George Cook was ultimately to face off with Jack O'Malley in his last H/W Title bout in Oz... 1931.

A nice connection in breif.. ... After Les Darcy went to America, his trainer Dave Smith defeated Bill Squires for the Oz H/W crown.. Squires had faced World H/W Champ Tommy Burns twice.
As Dave Smith was not fully recognised as Oz H/W Champ, Albert Lloyd tackled Colin Bell for the recognition.. and recieved full recognition. Colin Bell had faced the likes of Sam Langford, Joe Jannette and Sam McVea.. Deservedly, Lloyd was recognised.
Dave Smith then beat Albert Lloyd to reclaim Title claimantcy...
Along comes Yankee Jimmy Clabby, the former WORLD W/W claimant and twice opponent of Les Darcy, who KO's Dave Smith in 10 rounds and defends against Albert Lloyd twice before losing to Lloyd in a third bout..
Albert Lloyd defends the Oz H/W Crown 9 times in 11 months before sailing to the USA and ultimately England..

With George Cook battling away both here and abroad 12 years after losing to Albert Lloyd, Cook loses twice to Jack O'Malley for the Oz H/W title..

What's the connection, I hear you ask???

****ed if I know.. It just amazes me that Albert Lloyd would face Jimmy Clabby, Dave Smith, Colin Bell and George Cook (all directly related to the Darcy era)... George Cook faced off with Jack O'Malley in 1931.. O'Malley would lose his H/W Crown to Ambrose Palmer.. Palmer would go on to train Fammo.. Etc. Etc..

Ok.. Too much time on my hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    March 3.. Australia.

1902. Bill McCall KO 6 Dan Creedon. Being the second defence of McCalls H/W title.

1941. Hockey Bennell KO 8 Jimmy Dundee. Wins the Oz W/W Crown.

1958. Billy Todd W/P 15 Billy Stanley. Wins the Oz W/W Crown.

1911. Hughie Mehegan KO 4 Jim Armstrong. Hughie's 4th defence of the L/W Crown. Inducted into the Oz Boxing HOF last Oct... 2009. He's a total legend, and a fighter who gave his life serving OUR country in WW1.

1917. Jimmy Taylor KO 6 Kid Raymond. Taylor wins the Oz Fly/W Crown. A few months later, Taylor joined the armed forces, and thankfully he's again mentioned in 1921 as an opponent of Billy Tingles Bantam/W Crown.
