...and Armstrong achieved this in the days long before the scourge of alphabet titles diluted boxing to what we know it as today.

Former IBF President Robert W. Lee Sr., is acquitted on 27-counts of bribery and racketeering in federal court in Newark, NJ, but is convicted of money laundering, tax evasion, and interstate travel to aid racketeering.

The feds had accused Lee of taking bribes to rig the organization’s ratings.

Also rolled into this was the investigation of the controversial Evander Holyfield-Lennox Lewis heavyweight title draw, which prompted New York law enforcement agencies to start their own probes of the IBF.

The grand jury heard from the boxing judge criticised for her scoring in that fight, Eugenia Williams, who told the grand jury that no one attempted to sway her decision.

    ...smelly stuff.

The film, called simply 'The Fighter' revolves around the life of Micky Ward and his trainer-brother Dick Eklund. It will chronicle their early days on the rough streets of Lowell, Mass, through Eklund's battle with drugs and Ward's eventual rise to world championship level.

Armstrong was somethng else wasnt he.

I've seen the majority of the second fight between these two in which Ambers was given the decision as the referee penalised Armstrong for low blows in quite a few rounds.

Armstrong absolutely smashed Ambers all over the ring and was robbed big time imo.
