    Hi all,

A little under 2 months I stupidly punched a wall, leading to a 2nd metacarpal fracture in my right hand. Now it's close to healing. My hand aches when I use it too much but I've been able to take off the splint and do some activity with for a few hours each day, so it's getting there.

Sadly, I noticed that my middle knuckle is very sunken. I know it's normal for metacarpal fractures, but it's dropped to the point where my ring knuckle is now more prominent. I tried hitting a bag (lightly) and can definitely feel that knuckle absorbing more of the punch.

I'm orthodox so I'm worried this will weaken my punches and that the ring knuckle will be at serious risk of breaking. Wondering if anyone has any advice or has faced a similar situation?

    Thanks

Better consult only with a medical specialist and wait the time needed to heal, giving your hand as much rest as possible. Don't take our advice or any over the internet when the best answer isn't that far from you.

Let it heal and consult a medical professional before you even think about lacing up again. For work on the bag, or anything.

"Soldiering through" just for the sake of doing so is dumb and pointless, unless you stand to lose financially on a scheduled paid competition and even then - probably most would consider it an unwise choice to proceed.

Take that healing time off boxing and go hard on running and conditioning, thank me later
