I'd like to know too. The only thing i'm concerned about is spending a bunch of money on them and having them fly out and losing one every time I fight.
well amy, i box with contact lenses, but i havent sparred with them or fought with them on yet; anyone know? my guess is that when you get hit in the eye you just have to blink a couple of times to get it reset. but who knows. haha:think
I wear soft contacts. I never had any problems. However, some of my fghters loose them all the time. Make sure you use disposable contacts and keep an extra set with your stuff in case they come out. Fights will NOT be stopped if you're having contact problems and you need to make sure it doesn't distract you. Later, Bob Barnum http://www.PittsburghBoxing.com
thanks alot bob for clearing that up for me, may i ask what brand you use, my prescription has to be renewed and why not try your type. haha
Any real hard shot you take to the head, and they will come out. You had better get used to fighting without them.
I box with disposable contact lenses, I have to, I have terrible eyesight. They will come out, I actually find not so much with hard straight punches in the eye region but grazing hooks that rub against the eye. Its a massive pain. Having said that, it's another reason to keep your hands high and after time I found that it was becomong rarer and rarer for me to lose a lens. To start with I 'dropped' a lens once every couple of rounds, now its about every 5-6.
No problem you can box. I been both training anc competing with contacts. My sugestion is to get dayly contacts and even if you lose it will not gonna be big deal. In sparing i lose my contacts ~ once a month, but i manage to lose them during every competition.
That's what I figured. I've been competing for a couple of years without them but I think it would really help if I did have them. Does it change anything when you lose one during a fight, or is it pretty easy to adjust quickly?
In my experience when i lose contact i don't have time for adjusting. During fight its my least concern, however it causes disconfort. But since in amateurs its only 3 rounds its not a big deal. I would defenetly sugest you to you contacts during competitions becuase it allows you to judge the distance much better. So yeah go for it :good . Ah and if you spar and compete often defenetly go for daily ones, it will save ypu a buch of $. Good luck :bbb
Thanks alot everyone! *Maybe when I get enough money I will get that pricey laser eye surgery to correct my vision , but for now, I will spar and compete with them in. I am going to try and spar today with-out them in and see if theres really any difference.
I've been boxing with contacts from the begining. I normally lose 1 or both of them during sparring, not a big deal for my though because I used daily contacts. Lucky I'm near sided so I can see well enough to fight if I lose them. Yes, its a pain to lose them but losing them in a offical fight is annoying because I will instinctivly look down at the contact once it was out, so I'll sometimes get poped.
