If someone passes the eye test with out any glasses or contacts but still have below average eyesight are they allowed to wear contacts? Or is this forbiden
umm.... professional boxers are allowed. And the Aiba states that you cant wear glasses but contacts are allowed. So the aba should be the same shouldnt it??
iv just started back boxing and have been wearing my contacts no problem, although i havnt sparred yet. Im not worried about them its just if they come out its a waste of money as they are monthlies. Iv had two opticians tell me they cant see them coming out but if they did they wouldnt pose any risk to my eye, new contact lenses are very safe as opposed to the old solid type. Im thinking of getting a supply of disposable ones for boxing tho then if they come out no biggie
Yeah i have daily's and they rarely come out when sparring and even if they do i can see clearly just wondering if i im allowed to compete with them in not worried about them coming out
I read something about if your lens comes out you ma lose the fight because of that. Dont really know much about it.
I wouldn't exactly be as worried about them coming out as I would be about someone punching a piece of rubbery plastic into my eyeball at the wrong angle with intent.
Here your not allowed to spar/fight with lenses, if you get punch in the eye theres a big probability youll get an infection thats why
You shouldn't need contacts. Boxing isn't about how precise your vision is. Actually if we want to get technical I can argue that the more precise your natural vision the worse your boxing vision is. The eyes have two kinds of photoreceptors the rods and the cones. The cones are what giver you your clearer precise vision. They are the densest at the focal point of the eye. People with excellent Hawkeye vision have lots of cones in their eyes and usually fewer rods. The rods are imprecise highly sensitive to movement and color blind. They are densest away from the focal point and are what give you the majority of your peripheral vision. Like cones they tend to be naturally inverse. Someone with lots of rods has fewer cones. If you have lots of rods you will not have the greatest focused vision but you will have better night vision, and be able to detect movement out of your periphery better. The latter is what matters most for boxing. You are looking forward and you are detecting movement out of your periphery. I like to say that you are looking for flash. Contacts or not your ability to detect flash has nothing to do with how precise your vision is you were either born with a lot of rods or you weren't. Its not something you can really fix. The last thing you want is a plastic contact folding up and being unable to see out of an eye for a round. Better to fight without them. My brother has great vision. Far better than mine. But I have way better peripheral vision. This lady who checked my eyes once for a reading problem said that I could read out of my peripheral vision better than any other kids she had tested. So my brother is a far better shot than I am but I'm the better hunter. I can detect the movement that he cant. He is oblivious to movement. I'm aslo better at avoiding punches than he is. Way better and I cant come close to seeing 20/20 without my glasses on.
Wheres here? and you not allowed 100%. ok thanks And btw its unheard of to get punched IN THE EYE a glove is so much bigger then the eye socket. but i get what u mean
I wear contacts and I have had them come out in sparring and in fights. Some fights it happens, others it doesnt, you can never really tell. You not meant to wear them, but no one has ever questioned me on it.
Malta, obviously the glove wont go in ur eye but the sweat will and that can cause a serious infection...
