All the sanctioning organizations went away for good and we recognized one Champion.

If it was organized similarly to Tennis. No absurd rankings, no promoters, no multiple ABC's.

SportsCenter and Sports Illustrated carried more boxing info like they did pre-1995.

PPV was a 3 times per year event, meant only for true Super Cards topped with Super Fights like Mayweather-Cotto.

TV did not care about fighters records, just about the matchup and the significance.

We need a deeper pool of good fighters in the states. Good boxers make the sport and there are fewer guys out there that learn their craft.

Lack of an amateur program is killing and will kill the sport further in the U.S.

Weigh-Ins much closer to the fight. Take the recent Crusierweight unification. Haye was believed to be at least a stone heavier than Maccarinelli come fight time. It needs to be changed to much closer to the fight.

Simply put; Boxing is better when the best fighters fight each other. So how can we make this happen?

I don't know if all of the alphabet org's need to go away, necessarily. But, there needs to be 1 superceding governing body over boxing which recognizes 1 champion per division and can mandate fights between any two fighters, regardless of their ranking by whatever organization, whatever title belt they may hold or who their promoter is.

for an organization to only have 1 champ, no more super champ, interim, intercontinental. It was not long ago the wba had 3 champs in one division, i think that was cruiserweight

Yep, also having one champ per division is a great thing.

That would be nice, but regarding this Heavyweight division, there's nothing to talk about, it's too weak and lackluster.

I think Boxing is fine as a whole, the Heavyweight division is the problem, none of these top guys have any personality, I either cant understand what there saying and when they do talk they pretty much put me to sleep. Guys like Tyson, Toney, Foreman, Bowe, and Morrison, were all good self promoters and fun to hear what they had to say before and after the fight, these were type of fighters that got the average fan interested.

Another thing: unifications should be counted as mandatories!

Off the top of my head.
More fights on free TV (basic cable is ok if it can be sean at resturants or other public places.) or internet and less PPV and pay cable.
A better ranking system. Sort of like the BCS using a difrent exesting ranking systems and mathmatlicly figuring out a final ranking.
A turment at every weight between WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO tittlests to determen who the Champion is.
A champion or titlest should fight and defend his belt(s) at least once every 6 months if not more offten. An excetion could be made for catch-weight fights. If a champion/titlest can not defend with in six months he should step aside and alow for the two most deserving to fight for the belt(s) and get a shot when and if he is able to come back.
Rankings should be based on in ring acomplishments and not back room dealings. #1 contenders should get their mandtory shots.
More catch-weight fights between the two boxers from diffrent divisions.
Boxing should be a high school sport. (I personaly think that more Martial Arts or fighting sports should be high school sports.) This will devlope talent and a better amatuer system (in any country) and grow more general intrest in the sport amongust the youth which in turn will create a deeper pool of talent and fans. :bbb

Ban clinching. Almost every fight would be better.
