A void opened up a few years ago when money started taking over football, and Bobby Robson was fired from Newcastle. I got into boxing more at this point, and to be honest I can't see football replacing it now. Still, if Newcastle ever won anything I'd properly still be in tears of joy
Im an all sport except for ***** sports like golf, but yeah boxing is my passion. I dont think theres any sport in the world that has the dedication and determination of athletes like boxing does.
I always get a kick out of the younger fans who seem to think that controversey in boxing is something new. We've always had bogus score cards, ref screw ups, quetsionable stoppages, negotiations that broke down over money or venue, et, et. Little Red had to knock Mike Ayala out twice in the same fight. Immediately after Clay/Liston II George Chuvalo was in the ring screaming at Ali about Liston taking a dive. Arguello moved up rather than try to unify with Danny Lopez. SRL never fought Pryor, because even though Pryor was a worthy challenger, in terms of prestige he was a nobody at the time. If you call your self a boxing fan, learn to live with this ****. It has probably been going on since the greko-roman times. In spite of all the bluster and bull****, boxing remains the greatest sport in the world. Nothing captures the human imagination quite like two brave warriors laying their lives on the line just to give the fans a show. It's an honor to be a boxing fan.
Football once but too much money corrupted it totally. My favorite sports now are boxing, cycling and tennis. Strange combination
Boxing number one. I got more into boxing when the first couple of UFCs were released on ppv. Odd way to find yourself into the sport. Football number 2 (oh, gridiron). Aaron Rodgers is ma BOY!
Boxing . . . . . . . . . . . . ... Other sports Gave up on all sports(but boxing) after .... Ruelas/Pendleton
Boxing is the sport I get most excited for. I mean, I actually plan sports nights around boxing...and I am not a sports guy. I call my friends together and we convene at the home with the most impressive home theater. We order a pizza, beers, etc. I don't do this for any other sport...not even for the Superbowl! Still, it would be hard for me to call boxing my number one sport since these evening, although almost always enjoyable, are so few and far between, since I refuse to shell out cash for Pay Per View. Of course, that make them more exciting. But I would have to say I was a bigger fan a decade ago when I watched Tuesday night fights and ESPN boxing every week. Now, I'm more of an NBA guy. At least I watch it more than I do boxing.
For me it used to be football (soccer) when i was younger, but my dad always used to watch Naseem Hamed, Eubank and other British Boxing stars. I have always watched a range of full combat martial arts but in regards to boxing i didnt consider myself a massive fan until....... Maweather vs Hatton. This is when i became a massive boxing fan. In approx 2.5 years since the fight i have picked up loads about it and continue to love it and learn it. So for me its: 1)Boxing 2)MMA 3)Soccer (for you yanks lol) I am now also at the stage where i have got into shape and am actually joining a boxing gym next week! Great question! I just hope someone is bored enough to actually read my answer
