Not since the Golden Age have I seen boxing on the FRONT PAGE of the Sports section. FINALLY!!!!!

Pac's pic, with a story below by Lance Pugmire, is splashed on the front page of the LA Times Sports section, plus ALL of page two -- with a HUGE photo -- is devoted to the fight and Manny's relationship with Roach.

    I remember the Chicago Sun-Times' huge black-inked front-page headline in '78:

    Spinks new champ
    ALI LOSES!

Haye was actual front page news in Britain

also i been thinking Pacquiao is that superstar of our generation he has it all, the skills, the speed, the athletisism, the fighters heart and the charisma

he is the modern equivalent of Ray Robinson (as J has told me countless times)

Manny REALLY is the good guy fans see. In spite of Sugar's gleaming smile, soft voice and public gentility, he had a VERY dark side, GP

Cotto/Pacquiao was the top story on ESPN.com's homepage today.

Been a while since that's happened.

This is good news, especially since this is a ppv that is guaranteed to deliver some action and will likely create some new boxing fans as a result. This ain`t going to be no snoozefest like the grossly overhyped DLH/Myweather fight turned out to be and which likely turned off a lot of people from boxing as a result. Its fights like the one this weekend that have to hyped and sold to the public, fights that real boxing fans and insiders KNOW will produce fireworks between two proud fighters who will leave it all in the ring come fight time.
