Who in your opinion is boxing's best kept secret? This doesn't mean people who are heavily hyped prospects (i.e. Deontay Wilder)or people in the top 5 of their divisions but are being 'ducked' by the top guys (i.e. Sergey Kovalev) who get TV exposure. I'm talking about guys who are outside being top 10 rated but you feel that they could legitimately beat the top guys if they fought now. I will give you an example- Daniel Rosas. He is ranked number 32 by Boxrec at Super Flyweight, he has not yet lost. He is not rated by The Ring or Transnational Boxing. In 2010 he beat Juan Carlos Snachez Jr (Boxrec #1, Ring #2, TBR #3) in 2 rounds. He has also defeated via UD Felipe Orucuta (Boxrec #8, Ring #10, TRB #9) who gave Omar Navarez (Boxrec #2, Ring and TRB #1) hell in a controversial SD. Rosas is still under 23 (Youtube him) and he's a monster. You folks got anymore?
Chonlatarn Piriyapino Thailand, 28 years old Boxrec #28 Featherweight 47-1, 30 KO's Lost late last year to Chris John in a very good fight. I'd pick Piriyapino over most of the guys ranked above him.
:good He's a good fighter. People **** on Chris John's record because he fights in Asia against fighters who's name's they can't pronounce but fight likes this and Yordan prove he's still class. Even had Garcia made weight and dominated Lopez in the same fashion I still rate him above Garcia at 126 and the fact The Ring ignored John to make Garcia (who at that point hadn't really beaten anyone of major note) and Salido for the title was wrong.
Normally I would have gone like  looking at a list like that, certainly with a lot of previously unbeaten opponents in there. But then I saw his and his victims nationality and there's that dejavu feeling of Brazillians coming in with huge records from domestic fights, only to get dominated once fighting someone from one of the bigger boxing countries. It's clear we need to see him against a real opponent first to see what he's really made of.
:nod His problem (as with anyone else in the division) is that very few of the top at Cruiserweight are reluctant to leave their home patch.
Clearly a great fighter, but already rated at the top of his division by everyone and a reigning world champion- in a pound for pound sense, yes (he does appear on about 10% of people's) but I wouldn't really call him a secret.
Shinsuke Yamanake is a real beast. Although he's rated number 2 by the Ring at bantam his lack of recognition among even hard core fans on this site is a real mystery. He's a real puncher and his wins over Darchinyan, Rojas, and Tunacco prove he has substance to him. Guillermo Jones was a great secret for years. I loved watching him against Kelvin Davis, Braithewaite, Brudov, and Arslan, but now the cat is out of the bag with his win over Lebedev.
naoya inoue, this japanese kid is a monster at 112, he is big news in japan, I was in japan he was fighting on network tv as the main event and destroyed a former japanese 112 champ in his third fight. only 20. He will be a star
:good If you look at top guys in the division, Japan also have Ioka (who's first 11 fights was far better than Rigondeaux- obs he's overtaken Ioka with the Donaire win) and Uchiyama who is also criminally underated. Yageshi as well.
