Joe Calzaghe stands above all in the category of overrated. I'm sorry, but when your best wins came against a limited, left hookless lacy, and a clearly shot roy jones, I dont think you should be destined for the hall of fame like some claim, especially if the people who claim your hall of fame status are blinded by your glossy, yet highly faulty, undefeated record.
Alot of upcoming prospect are getting hype.... THERE ****ING PROSPECT. There young. How can a young prospect top the list for biggest hype job?
This thread is now 5 pages long and I've only read the first page, but immediately you see names like Hatton, Hamed, Judah, Tzsyu. What in the world is a hype job to you people? Those guys may not be ATGs, but they were all highly accomplished champions. I think hype job I think of guys like Fransisco Bojado, David Reid, Audley Harrison. Guys that were hyped up to be superstars and completely failed. But maybe this is really a thread about guys people don't like disguised as a thread about hype jobs.
More bull****. This is a guy who quietly built up a good record, won a title and still didn't get noticed until he KO'd a bulldog fighter who had never been down, in a unification match on HBO. Now he's suddenly gotten press so people are calling him a hype job, even though no one had heard of him until after he won his second world championship. A hype job is not someone who fights 19 times in obscurity, wins two titles and then gets a lot of attention.
Does Leon Spinks count? he was still around 20 years ago but people knew by then he was already a lost soul
I am going to say oscar de la hoya, lost all his big fights yet was one of the most financially successful boxers of the last 20 years.
