That's right people. Nobody in boxing could do it. Not Lucas Browne, not Odlanier Solis, not Alexander Ustinov, not any of the 59 HW Boxers who tried could do it, nobody could knock Chauncy Welliver down. George Chuvalo 501 straight HW rounds without going down. Oliver McCall 428 straight HW rounds without going down. Chauncy Welliver 421 straight HW rounds without going down. The chins that are as big as chins get and cannot be broken by any men who ever laced up the gloves in pro boxing. Now Pro Wrestling's Kevin Sullivan and his partners will try. That's right. Chauncy Welliver will be tangling with the NWA Champions in his very first Pro Wrestling match. In a 6 man tag team match The NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Champion "The Lost Sullivan" Buddy Highway, The NWA Continental Heavyweight Champion Badd Blood and the NWA Legend "The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan will be forming "The New Dungeon of Doom" to take on Chauncy "Boxing's Greatest Chin" Welliver, The Honky Tonk Man and NWA Heritage HW Champion Dave "Havoc Hollenbeck. Chauncy Welliver in the same ring with the Honky Tonk Man, Kevin Sullivan and all the current NWA Champions! July 17th in Portland is where the most epic pro wresling debut of all time will take place. We will all have to wait and see if Pro Wrestling can generate the man Pro Boxing never could. The man that is great enough to finally knock Chauncy Welliver down. Check out the Honky Tonk Man's promo video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=28&v=cGKtg4Me-oI As the quest continues to find the man great enough to knock Chauncy Welliver down in Pro Wrestling, let us not forget that Welliver is still fairly young for a HW boxer. Anytime he feels like it he can decide to smash George Chuvalo's record and walk right through anybody HW boxing has to do it.
I remember Kevin Sullivan. I though he was long retired. Weird side note: He was once married to a woman named Nancy. She wound up leaving Sullivan for Chris Benoit. Who ended up killing her, their son and himself.
Tagging with Lawler's geriatric barely-ever-was (never relevant before or after his IC reign) cuz? Fitting debut for the Panda in a "sport" far more suited to his physique and skillset than boxing. :nod
Damn....I remember Benoit going whacko but didn't know the specifics. I had no idea Sullivan was linked to that situation. That must have been an extremely long and crazy couple of days for Benoit. ****er should have just hung himself a few days earlier and saved everyone else the terror and grief. What a **** way to go out.
I was at Cobo Hall watching Honky Tonk Man back in the 90's in Detroit performing for WWF. He had a very good run in pro wrestling and he's still up and running. Why is he still going? Because he is a very smart man. He's teaming with Welliver because he's a genius. Honky Tonk Man and Welliver are going to take Canada by storm next. Chauncy "Boxing's Greatest Chin" Welliver. Chuvalo Who? Chuvalo Who? Chuvalo Who? Bret Who? Bret Who? Bret Who? Shake Rattle And Roll Baby!
He and Benoit hated each other, legitimately, with a passion. Sullivan actively suppressed him and his friends in WCW, leading to Benoit defecting (with all the aforementioned friends except Shane Douglas, who long ago had burned his bridges with McMahon) to WWE as the Radicalz, with most of them except career midcarder Perry Saturn achieving great success as singles competitors - and they did so right after Benoit was booked to become WCW champ in ownership's desperate bid to smooth over the bad feelings between him and Sullivan, then head booker for the company.
Why was this moved to MMA Forum. Welliver would cream every MMA HW in the bizniz. Brock Lesnar himself ran off back to MMA because he heard Welliver was coming to Pro Wrestling.
Easily. He could withstand an F5 off the top rope onto the floor if Lesnar could manage the muscle at the top of the ropes to put him up and down. Perhaps one of these upcoming WrestleMania's we can find out if Lesnar is up to the task? Shake Rattle And Roll!
Since I got moved to an MMA forum I might as well dog on boxing a bit more. Boxing is a ***** sport in the day when a man can say Chauncy Welliver does not have a top shelf skill set for boxing. In the old days when there were no pussies calling time out it was all about fighting until one man got dropped, stopped or quit. Being an undroppable chin and an immovable object is the #1 skill in real boxing. In the days of unlimited rounds Chauncy Welliver would be Undisputed World HW Champion or they would still be fighting the title fight as nobody can drop him. Boxing needs to go back to the day when the best man won and quit calling time outs to give lesser fighters points victories.
Saturn was talented though... Really should have had more success. Saw a recent interview with him where he talked about his recovery. Guess it got so bad he was on the street for a while.
In April 2004, Satullo was involved in an altercation with two men when he came to the aid of a woman that they were in the process of raping. He fought the men and was shot with a .25 caliber handgun in the back of the neck and in the right shoulder, to which he originally thought he had received a punch, (as stated in a YouShoot) as a result of the scuffle.[18] After being shot, Satullo became addicted to methamphetamine and was homeless for two and a half years.[19][20] Satullo disappeared from public view and was not seen for several years, with his family and friends unaware of his whereabouts.[21] Satullo reemerged in 2009, having resolved his addiction. Man that's ****ed....:-(
