So I've been googling my heart out trying to find some stats and info on boxing paydays. I'm really interested to see how much these small time guys get paid to cave each other's skulls in. Also regarding the top boxers, I always knew they got paid millions to fight, but I did not think it would be $3 million or so. I would have guessed they would have gotten paid more like $10 million or along those lines.

Feel free to post any links to articles regarding boxing paydays, or just to share some knowledge you have about the subject.

Most small-time boxers don't get paid much at all, and have full-time jobs (other than boxing) to support themselves.

Marvin Hagler worked in construction for the earlier part of his career, so did Glen Johnson for most of his career, Freddie Pendelton worked in a deli, etc..

Nigel Collins said that for the first Matthew Saad Muhammad-Marvin Johnson fight, one of the greatest fights of all-time, they both got like $2,500 gross pay or some ****.

Larry Merchant said that Sammy Fuentes got like $20,000 when J.C. Chavez was beating the **** out of him.

For comparison sake, I read that the purse bid for the Yuri Foreman/Daniel Santos title bout was $165,000. That's split between both fighters and the purse before taxes, cuts to trainers, training expenses, etc. It shrinks pretty fast.

I've been to small shows where boxers were getting 100 bucks per round with a 50 buck bonus to the winner.
