    What are boxings pyrrhic victories?

What are the victories that fighters have attained that have came at the greatest cost to the fighter themself?

I'm looking for wins that have left a fighter diminished or even ruined as a fighter forever after and make you wonder whether the victory was really worth it.

An obvious example is Muhammad Ali and the Thrilla in Manilla which even though Ali won marked the begining of his decline as a fighter and perhaps exacerbated the onset of his Parkinsons' Disease.

Another would be Riddick Bowe-Andrew Golota.A win on paper for Bowe that caused irreparable damage to him physically and left him a shell of the charismatic personality he once was.

What are some other examples of these that you can think of? :think

Thanks for listing the fights that came to mind before I could use them. ...But I would say Bowe over Holyfield and Holyfield over Bowe, to use Bowe again only earlier. Those guys cut chunks off of each other in all of their fights. I think Andrew got a lesser Bowe for sure as much as Bowe was even further removed from his best in that fight.

Although still a good fighter Carbajal seemed to lose an edge after the first Chiquita fight. The Marquez-Vasquez rivalry with both guys winning and both faded after. We will find out more after the upcoming fight.

    Chacon-Boza Edwards II

    TRue:good

    Gabriel Ruelas after Jimmy Garcia
Camacho-Rosario Camacho was never the same still a good fighter but no longer in the elite PFP sense. Like Camacho once said in an interview with KO magazine "Are you trying to say Rosario turned me into a *****"

My answer would have been no Hector you still had balls(see Chavez loss) but you never stopped running after that.

I would agree, Chavez was never the same post Taylor, but maybe hindsight shows his decline starting pre Taylor.

...Knowing you, you might really, truly, actually know of a fight between a guy named John Jacob Cornelius and X Taylor.
