What REALISTIC things professional boxing, it's networks, promoters, organizations and fighters should do in 2010, to keep our sport's stock rising? Obviously the Super Six tournament and the Floyd/Pacquiao spring fights made a lot of noise all around the world and people once again talk about boxing (fights, not just boxing related news like the Tyson soap operas), therefore the powers in the sport should use this current popularity to quickly come up with ideas to keep the high attention level for long term, not just for certain fight weekends and simple match-ups. What are Your suggestions and ideas?
Get hot prospect fights on big headlined undercards...for example get JuanMa vs. Gamboa in an great fight that gets good exposure on the Mayweather/Pacquaio undercard, which may lead to a good hyped up rematch on it's own by the general public and casual fans...something like that, idk how to explain it right
like him or hate him david haye makes as lot of noise and even if he doesn't fight a klitschko next year its still a potential fight that will get people talking. adamek will be a big draw if he gets a good win then goes into a klitschko fight aswell, the heavyweight division is far from dead imo
Mayweather V Pacquiao Pacquiao/Mayweather winner against Mosley/Berto Cotto V Margarito II Haye V Klitschko's Pavlik V Williams Mayweather V Williams @ 154 Marquez V Hatton Marquez V Bradley Marquez V Valero Bradley V Alexander Lopez V Caballero Valero V Katsidis Hatton V Khan
The economy tanking was one of the best things to happen for fight fans in awhile. What were there a grand total of 3 HBO ppvs this year? Long gone are the days of Maskaev-Rahman and Barrera-Juarez on ppv. Continuing to make fights accessible will allow for growth.
we need to get moe boxing on tv in order to build up future stars and to generate a larger fan base. hopefully we'll get a lot of unifaction matches next year to clear up the real champs in each division
What we dont need is fights that will bore the arse of people - some have to happen but keep them to a minimum. Dont have Haye Valuev2 or if it does happen dont hype it massively cause it will be as boring as the first fight but with no added intrigue. Floyd and hopkins are good at stinking fights out too but because there massive names and there that good they can get away with it. Also i thin k there should be more emphasis on the smaller titles such as the british, European etc as these are the guys who your hoping will prove themselves at world level someday and they need the coverage to build a good fan base (but dont make them out to be world beaters before they are rant over
He bring excitement in his press conferences. So far, his heavyweight fights have been lackluster affairs at best. His fight against Valuev was a soporific...And there is little chance for him to create a buzz against the likes of John Ruiz and Valuev, again. Sorry, but at heavyweight, Haye doesn't excite anyone save the English. :good
You never know with boxing, there are a couple good ones there but something always happens that turns into a good fight. I want to see Marquez-Hatton. Pacman - PBF. Cotto-Magerito II. Haye v Toney. Roy - BHOP. Mosley v Anyone(bloke needs to ****ing fight man!) Lopez v Gamboa Haye V Klitz is inevitable but Haye needs to work his way to get a Klitz. As has always been the case.
The young Sauerland is potentially terrific for boxing, he needs to keep up his ambitious ways of doing things and work closely with other worldwide promoters. The better Asian boxers around need to be more high-profile.
I think boxing could help itself even more by putting decent fighters on main stream stations (such as CBS, ABC or NBC) like it did back in the 80s. I'm not talking about big fights or even important scraps but rather up and coming good prospects, known names making a comeback, etc.. Every Saturday afternoon for instance, we'd see a number of fights live on one of these stations. Give it a name so that it becomes a known regular event every Saturday...such as : ''Saturday's boxing extravaganza''.
