All fighters need America to some extent. That's where the serious, serious money is. Fighters might make good money at home, especially if home is Germany and the UK, both big markets, but the US market is the cash cow. Klitschkos and Haye make £5-£10m a fight but Tyson/Holyfield used to make £20m+ a fight in the 1990s; in today's money more like £30m.
What you going on about. No station will pick up Carl Froch fight. He ****ing begging for a station to pick him up. You aint got a clue what your talking about.
Why just say the two biggest. Mayweather broke the ppv record in our own country He had more buys than he had in america. And did more buys in the UK than PAC. Shouldn't Pac be doing more?
Also, the people comparing Mayweather's gates to Klitschkos gates are ignoring the most important factor: price. Nosebleed tickets for the Klits cost about $30. Nosebleed tickets for Mayweather-Mosley were $300. Mayweather isn't looking at the attendance; he's looking at the gross.
So? He's making most of his money from gates sales. Look at the amounts he has been paid to fight in America - Regardless of TV, he has made more when fighting in Britain. He could sell 20,000 tickets in Nottingham easily and that is enough to cover any loss of money from TV deals.
But why do you take the ppv as the main indicator? I say let floyd fight on a regular broadcast now and see how he does.
Froch is a strange case because he's been managed so poorly. I think a few million watched the Pascal fight at 11pm i.e. good enough ratings so I don't understand why he hasn't had a decent TV deal since. Fat Mick has a lot to answer for.
Because to use the Hatton fight would be unfair as Hatton was the sole draw for 95% of people. If Pacquiao fights a British guy Kell Brook stoppages ages ago and 10million Phillipinos watch, are you going to credit that to the opponent too? Of course not. Hatton was the clear draw in Britain against Mayweather and Pacquiao. Pacquiao isn't a huge draw here but I don't think he's behind Mayweather. I think Pacquiao has got more media promotion. I remember him visiting a place up here in the north which was covered because it was a big event, and the fact he was fighting Hatton wasn't the catch.
You really haven't got a clue. That's only way he is making his money and believe me that is not as much as you think.
Until pacroid hits the 2mil mark WITHOUT floyd he aint ****..he couldnt do it with hoya and he can sell as much as he wants..floyds holds the all time record pacquiao simply HASNT..
Yeah, it's bad promotion more than anything. The Pascal fight was big here, the Taylor one was...then nothing. Despite that, Froch still makes good money here.
I never said i only took ppv as the main indicator. I used the UK ppv buy rates to show that mayweather broke the PPV record in the UK which was not his country. The record before that was held by tyson v lewis in 2002 at 750,000 ppv buys. Mayweather v Hatton did 1.4 million ppv buys. Now I can only speak for the UK and pac did less buys than mayweather facing the same opponent in both the UK and America. So we can estimate who is a bigger draw in the UK at least. And we already know who is a bigger draw in america. So how the thread starter comes up with his list in such an order is beyond belief. In regards to the klit brothers situation i said that you cant just take the klitchko's numbers from free tv viewing as an indicator that they are globally more popular than mayweather. It dont make any sense to come to that assumption based on the evidence provided.
