TBf mate bit harsh its how u see a fight
For instance take kov vs ward ,in a huge kov fan wanted him win fight but I had ward up by 2 just didn't think he did enough to win later rounds. Always try watch fight commentary on then once without.
It's exact same if u are live at a fight a lot of crowd can sway judges the difference between bing ringside or far back is Massive. All about opinions and to be fair jones again am big golovkin fan a had him up 2-3 but only as I felt he was much more aggressor and landed more punches but also felt Jacobs had a great fight.the scorecards were tight a reason mate. Let's be honest seen a lot lot worse. The card for Perez vs hooker a think was without a doubt worst a have seen

 

I couldn't agree more; he was spouting **** about Jacobs and his 'quality work' when punches were being blocked by GGG or were missing!!

 

I like Barry normally but agree his commentary/reading of that fight was very poor

 

It was terrible commentary, I had to turn off the volume. Barry, Bunce, and the other support commentator telling GGG how he should fight, all complete and utter twats that couldn't tell their ass from their elbows.

They love the sound of their own voice and couldn't break down the fight, just followed a particular story and stuck to it.

Awful awful boxing channel full of know nothings.

 

Good fights though wasn't they. I'm like a zombie this morning after staying up to watch them all. The Gonzalez fight was an absolute war.

I thought Jacobs won the fight by a round but not surprised by the outcome.

 

I ended up watching the HBO feed as I really dislike the commentary on box Nation. Plus the studio they use looks so low budget!!!

 

He is an awful commentator - can't stand listening to him.

 

I agree I think he is awful. Doesn't do anything to add to the excitement of a fight. He doesn't have a good voice for it and that's the worst aspect. Sure he's a nice guy but he needs to stick to the small hall shows.

 

I'd post about this on the general forum but it seems to be full of helmets. I thought it was an interesting insight into how GGG would fare if he stepped up to super middleweight as Jacobs certainly piled on the pounds over night for that scrap. GGG is undoubtedly a big hitter who's quality at closing the ring down but once Jacobs got through them first 6 rounds I felt he controlled the fight and GGG just didn't carry the same devastating power.

 

He's ok for the smaller cards but for huge fights you want a more dramatic/dominating voice I think. Rawling is good though.

 

Could not agree more. Don't mind Barry as a person but always felt he's shite as a commentator and very biased towards certain fighters.
