    That is certainly true!

Very few print editors take online experience seriously unless it's a reputable site with high standards. Bunce has made some very funny posts about the bloggers out there.

I think a few on here have tried our hands at the writing side of boxing. And from what I've read, most were a lot more coherent and interesting than that article. I wouldnt get all high and mighty about having something published, it makes you come across as the 'James Degale of boxing writers' - arrogance, but no substance to back it up, with poor technique all round.

    Adios

    Link?

If Steve Bunce is able to tear you apart, writing isn't for you. I kid, I kid. Or do I?

I remember being a little harsh on Brut after the Haye-Harrison fight. He made this (still) ridiculous post that Harrison had mental-health problems and was "forced" to fight by the evil Haye/Sky machinery. It was one of the funniest things I've read.

On the earlier point about poor English, I always think of Zoolander:

Very fair responses. Telling a fully-fledged, experienced journalist he can learn something from a rambling, barely coherent blog is seriously dumb.

I had something 'published' recently, but tore it to shreds once it'd been out up...only then could I see how amateurish it was

I have also, let it be said, encouraged dozens of online writers.
By the way...is there a devoted fan living in London who would like to get work experience each Monday between about 5ish and 9pm. Shepherd's Bush area.
    PM if you fancy it.
    Adios.

  12. I don't think there's a problem with someone doing some writing if it's a hobby of theirs, in fact it's no different to anyone playing football/rugby or trainspotting.

If you get a few clicks and make a few quid out of it, fair play.

It's when you get blogger or whatever thinking that they're an old school hack that questions need to be asked.

One of the problems is that online writers have fewer rules and regulations...deadlines are loose, word totals are loose, libel rules are very loose...I could NOT get online writers to deliver 50 word tales on deadline and I tried it for six weeks in 2010.
Any takers on the work experience offer?

    Adios.

Checking a few stats and facts before the BoxingHour goes live.
Monitoring as many boxing websites as possible and writing 20 words on each of the best posts and then giving them to me during the breaks.
No pay...experience and sandwiches and water and fruit.

    Adios.
