Billy asked Appleby something (presumably 'do you want to go on?'), Appleby shook his head, so Billy went over to the ref and told him to stop the fight.
I know getting knocked down is never good news but getting knocked down late in a fight by a body shot usually means the guy is done.
Yep, I actually thought Appleby looked done a few rounds earlier but battled on and just got on with it. Whilst technically he did 'quit' it'd be pretty harsh to label him a quitjob, he just didn't have anything left.
I don't think with that stoppage it was any kind of shot that would have stopped him ordinarily. Probably just drained the last bit of energy he had, he was ****ed.
Well, my final thought on the fight before I head off to sleepy land this indian summer night is this. Cracking fight from a neutral point of view. However from a scottish boxing fans perspective, I have my concerns about Applebeys performance & the fight tactics, Applebey fought the exact same way he did against Lindsay, only this time he looked slower... His big heart & big punch almost pulled out a win against the odds, but going gung-ho again without taking a breather like he did against Lindsay was like watching history repeat itself, this time without the sharpness... Nighty night.
It never look like he quit he looked dead if he carried on he would of got hurt seriously bad IMO I'm sure dean an Billy said something to one another an pulled him out
F SAKE, Give the channel a chance its a new channel. As long as the action and fights are good who gives a F.
GREAT fight between Olusegun and Chebah! Absolutely mind-boggling shutout scored in Ajose's favour by one judge, but he was a worthy winner overall, dropping Ali twice in the second, the first of which landed on the back of the head, which was Chebah's fault really. Really intriguing fight, I'm too tired to delve deeper. EDIT: Sorry, third round. It's late.
