A slap in the face to all those who subscribed early doors. I'm one those Virgin customers who missed out on the free trial too. They have no way of enforcing this six month contract though. I essentially signed a verbal agreement over the telephone direct with Virgin. The girl advised that 30 days notice AT ANY POINT and its all finished. If they don't get regular, decent shows on they'll get no loyalty from me regardless of whether they're helping boxing or not. This offer shows disdain for their own customers.
Oh Rob you and your sources  Just kidding mate :smooch to be fair that is pretty good considering the non existant advertisment of the channel, the low level production, and complete under utilisation of modern social media (Buncey is exempt to all of this because he is a ****ing legend). I think 10 years ago Frank could have pulled this off but being honest I think he may be a bit behind the times nowadays. Either that and/or there is no cash to invest into the channel, but if that is the case it beggers the question of why did they pursue the creation of the channel when it was clearly never going to get off the ground without investment.
10,000 subs off essentially 1 fight is pretty good. I bet they will add another few thousand with this offer and at the start of Feb with Chisora (potentially Berto v Ortis), Burns, Mitchell etc they will add another 20,000.
I think the opposite. This is the way boxing needs to move forward. Being behind the times is companies like sky showing contempt for the real boxing fan who wants to see the undercard fights on t.v. by showing the just the main event.
I guess the initial number of subscribers was not as high as they expected, hence they now feel the need to offer an extra incentive, hence this new offer. Not nice for anyone who subscribed early, though, you'd think they would get a discount for a while or something. As another poster on here has said that they were told that they could effectively cancel the subscription at any time with just 30 days' notice, it is almost worth subscribing again to get the free tickets, while at the same time giving notice on the original subscription. A bit of faffing about, but you'd effectively get two fight tickets for £10...
:hi: Hi Bryn, sorry complete chaos here, nothing sinister and I still love my boxing - builders dismantled the house for us, that took out my office (I work from home, largely), various family stuff, sold two cars and bought two cars, just general Templar chaos so have neglected everything from work to boxing. Most of the trades are out, now, though, so hopefully I am back in the saddle. Did you miss me?
