Boxnation secures broadcasting rights for two Top Rank fights!

Domestically Sky are shitting on BoxNation right now. In terms of Boxing related programming, Sky are also shitting BoxNation. BoxNation only have more depth when it comes to international shows.

BoxNation should be winning in all departments though. There a 24hour Boxing channel. If you only subscribe to Sky Sports for boxing then you are in the minority even on this forum.

Channel 5, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, ESPN.....there boxing coverage is a disgrace. I haven't noticed them showing 14 live shows per year with 3/4 live fights, 6 Prizefighters, a weekly magazine show, weigh ins, press conferences, documentary's.

If BT Sport signed an exclusive contract with Hatton Promotions to show 14 live shows per you what would your opinion be? That there coverage is a ****ing disgrace?

 

In no objective sense does Sky have more depth than BoxNation when it comes to the fights. Is Bellew-Chilemba better than Donaire-Rigondeaux? Is it even as competitive as Rios-Alvarado?

So Box Nation, which a fraction of the budget (and don't bring up the subscriber numbers Frank quotes, they have nothing to with the channel's budget), should be better than a broadcaster with 20 year's experience in promotion and production?

As usual, your second point is nonsense. You bring this up like it proves anything. Regardless of the "value for money" you feel Sky represents, if you are a boxing fan, its offering is incredibly shallow.

That's the only issue we're debating.

 

The only thing Ringside will have to talk about in April (apart from there only show in April, that 'big event' in the 3000 seater in Winter Gardens) is the fights that are coming up on Boxnation.

 

Can you not read. BoxNation show more international fights than Sky. Outside of that, they don't beat Sky in any department when it comes to Boxing.

You have not subscribed to Sky for a long time so you won't be aware of the other boxing related programming they offer. Sky have Ringside which is significantly better than the Bunce Hour. They have interviews, weigh ins and press conferences on Sky Sports News. They have regular documentarys about old fighters and when theirs a big fight they will do more build up shows.

If your talking purely about fights, BoxNation is better for International, SkySports is better for domestic.Overall if your purely subscribing for Boxing then BoxNation is better as live action is what counts most, but thats still a fraction of people on this forum and on BoxNation.

The subscriber numbers have everything to do with the budget.

Second, my sister has Sky and I spend a lot of time at her house. So on what basis can you assume I haven't watched much Sky? I work in a ****ing marketing company as well - Sky is on all the time.

But, once again, that is not what we're discussing. We're comparing like for like the boxing output.

No, they don't. Sky has seen a general increase in subscriptions over the last five years, but has looked to reduce costs. So how do you explain that?

If BoxNation has 200,000 subscribers with its current standard of production, the management would be ****ing stupid to increase the production budget!

 

Just saying, at least Ringside can pitch in with building up the best fights that we will enjoy on Boxnation this month and next. Not too many big event Saturday night shows on Sky to talk about and the domestic rivalry has been done to death i.e middleweights that will never fight et al.

I am not knocking Ringside btw, it is top drawer every week. But they have very little Sky boxing to talk about this month. They will probably stock up on the marketing of their PPV.

 

You haven't proved me wrong just because you disagree. You're the one who seems to struggle to accept this simple reality.

You keep saying "Sky Sports also show football" but that's irrelevant to the discussion. You keep saying that "domestic boxing is better on Sky", but BoxNation shows better fights.

I also think, and have always thought, that Ringside is utter gack. I'm not a fan of the Boxing Hour either, but I don't think they're miles apart in terms of actual content.

The only real thing Sky is doing better is production quality. That I'll gladly give you.

It all comes down to opinion but I don't see how you don't think BoxNation should be held to a higher standard than Sky when it comes to Boxing. If Sky showing multiple sports is irrelevant so is BoxNations budget.

Some people value domestic boxing over international cards, so it is valid to point out that Skys domestic output has been superior for 2013. You just have to look at whats discussed on this forum to see what. Barker vs Murray would be a bigger fight and Martinez vs Golovkin on this forum
