Sorry if this been posted already....New TV channel Frank ****** is launching. What does everyone think about it?? THE sweet science may have found a new permanent home following the launch of TV channel BoxNation. Fight fans will now be able to enjoy the best bouts from around the world in one place, thanks in no small part to promoter Frank ******. The station, which will be available on Sky channel 456, Virgin and online, will broadcast its first live fight on September 30 when Liam Walsh takes on Paul Appleby at London's iconic York Hall. BoxNation will be free to view until later in the year, when it switches to a subscription service costing £10 a month. ******, who is a shareholder in the new venture, will honour his contract with Sky Sports but Nathan Cleverly's October 15 showdown with Tony Bellew will air live on BoxNation. The SunSport columnist said: "This channel's all about boxing. It's about OUR sport and giving the fans what they want. "This is what all boxing fans have been waiting for a dedicated channel, 100 per cent committed to showing the best fights from around the world. "There's a great live audience out there who want to see the best fights and we believe we're going to deliver. "We've got a great schedule lined up, starting on September 30 at the spiritual home of British boxing. "We'll be going free-to-air to start with before charging £10 a month for two live shows a week. "If you're a fight fan, you really can't miss this." BoxNation's coverage will be presented by Jim Rosenthal and Paul Dempsey, while boxing pundit Steve Bunce and commentator John Rawling will call the live events. Bunce's Boxing Hour will return and the super-middleweight showdown between WBO champion Robert Stieglitz and Mikkel Kessler will also be screened live from Denmark. ****** added: "Most importantly, our fighters are going to be able to get more exposure thanks to BoxNation. "We've had eight to 10 shows a year on Sky but that's not enough for all the boxers I've got in my stable. "Now we'll be able to give them the proper amount of bouts they all deserve. "From my point of view, it's a dream come true and I'm going to put my heart and soul into this to make sure it's a success."
I was quite chuffed when I first heard about this. A dedicated boxing channel can’t be anything but good news all round. And with them being in talks with Golden Boy and Top Rank, they could have their hands on some very good fights. But then I read about the £10/m subscription fee I know it’s only a tenner, but still, my monthly expenditure is high enough as it is. I don’t think I can fork out more money for fights I would have normally got for free.
If it was free, I would be made up. But it's not. The Sky Sports format was perfect, and growing. Not a chance I'm adding another subscription on top of my subscription.
Just awesome, about time. The £10 subscription is bull****, bull I'll get it for free, it's all about having a dreambox baby. I get all my Sky channels and HD channels including Primetime ppv ,Sentana Ireland, Mutv, e.t.c all for £10 quid a month.
I didn't know you were from the UK, Blade. :think I guess we're not smarter than the US posters on here, after all.
I need to be getting me a dreambox!! Never heard of that before... The thing is it looks like sky is only going to get matchroom fights now if goldenbox and TR sign up to boxnation...
