Frank is now stating that there will be around four live shows per month on Boxnation and that the channel is in third place (behind BT and Sky) in the sports subscription market. You have to take all of this with a pinch of salt when the BARB figures (admittedly sometimes flawed) for the channel are frankly woeful. I think Boxnation survives in the medium term but ultimately gets sold/taken over by BT Sport.
I can see that happening. So long as the fights still reach us here in the UK. Don't think anyone really minds paying for it so long as the fights come consistently.
Ive subscribed since day one and would be lost without it. Although the only thing i watch is the live boxing at the weekend. I like Bunce, Lillis and Barry jones and Rawling as a commentator is ok. Long may this channel continue. The way to maybe improve it would be to show some small hall shows, Hatton shows ect.
Watched it from day one, don't give a sod who owns it,only really watch the live events like Buncy .had some great nights. Cost three or four lattes a month. If you can afford it can you really be a "proper" boxing fan and not subscribe? If the had one live event a month it would still be cheaper than sky ppv!
Sky commentators are awful. I'm actually turning the sound off next time. I do not want anybody to lose a job, people have families but Halling and Watt need to go. Sky need to do a Red Button option of just hearing the crowd, I think the only reason they don't is because nobody would listen to them and they know it.
I hope they are aiming higher than that. That's not really good enough. Some months at least there is the potential to do 7/8 live shows and they should be able to have a more ambitious average than 4 a month. However, if you don't set the bar low, you will have people complaining, "they aren't giving what they promised!".
From what I remember they promised 1 live fight a week which I think is acceptable but my issue is more around the lack of domestic fights. I thought being a British channel there would be british fights galore, most if the live fights are US / International and therefore I wouldnt be watching them live at 3/4/5 in the morning.
Unfortunately you can only get it on the Sky platform in Ireland. Only option for me is to get the online version & AirPlay it onto the TV
On the opening night Frank stated that there would be two cards a week. Clearly if the channel was doing brilliantly there would be far more domestic action.
