BoxNationTV Hey Rob, thanks for asking! Firsty, not everyone had said the fight is poor quality. Some people out there recognise that this fight is here to keep Ricky Burns' hand in before he takes on a big time unification bout at the start of next year. Ricky's a great champion - possibly Britain's best - and I honestly think he'll prove that next year. Either way, he will fight the best that the division has to offer and we'll find out what he's got for sure. As for Walsh, what does he have to lose here really? If he does well and goes the distance then he gets loads of experience and plenty of credit. I still personally see his long-term future at super-featherweight where he could go to the very top, but you just never know. He's got a great KO record and you know he'll fancy his chances. Finally, it seems like people are complaining about this bit of matchmaking, while Ricky could've just put his feet up until next year, but, being the consumate champion that he is, he wants to stay right on top of things. Thanks very much mate, BoxNation.
Walsh isn't ready. I've really got no idea why this fight is happening. Clearly they want some easy defences for Burns - but he's just had one against Mitchell and is getting another here, which is a shame. Burns needs to sack W*rren - surely a manager is duty bound to act in the best interests of his client - in this case he clearly isn't.
1. Burns deserves to face a better opponent, in order to give him more credibility, build his 'legacy' and improve his ranking. He also deserves the chance to make more money. 2. Walsh does have something to lose. If he's embarrassed, he'll lose fans but.more seriously, if he's annihilated, there's a chance he will never be the same fighter. If he's schooled, will he lose confidence? If he gets knocked out, will he suffer permanent effects, mental and physical? 3. The paying fans are going to buy a ticket expecting a good fight and will be sold a mismatch. Will Frank, Bunce or anyone else be honest about what a mismatch this is? No, so the fans are being conned. 4. BoxNation fans pay a subscription fee to see good boxing, not to unwillingly pay for mismatches. Those fans deserve a better fight.
Walsh has defended the commonwealth title twice and just won the wbo europe so he's not entirely undeserving, its a better fight than Laryea, Evensen and Cook Is it the best fight that can be made ? no, is it better than burns sitting on his arse for the rest of the year ? yes
My old man bought me and him tickets for this as he knows I love it. He'll see this as a good fight, European undefeated champion takes on world champion. But us who follow boxing know it's an awful fight, I feel sorry for both fighters as well. And Boxnation shouldnt be saying things like; "Some people out there recognise that this fight is here to keep Ricky Burns' hand in before he takes on a big time unification bout at the start of next year." So just throw Liam Walsh to the slaughter then? ****ing joke. I bet Groves/Johnson doesn't happen either, still no confirmation from Johnson that he has accepted the fight.
This was the reply to my email : Hi Mr. Crane This is the man, the myth, the legend and the boxing Juggernaut they call Fish Eyes from Boxgaytion. THE greatest boxing promoter in the world: voted by zoo magazine. I'm awfully sorry, but we don't give a flying f*ck what you or anybody else thinks. You see, WE make the fights, not you, and we will continue to make the best fights in boxing history, you can't tell me Ricky Burns vs. Bradley Walsh is not a world class fight! We don't give a f*ck what you say, so just shut up, subscribe, don't moan, and keep smiling. Because, YOU DON'T KNOW SH*T ABOU BAHXING!!! Your arsehole, Fwank Wawwen Why did he have to be like that? :bart
Bradley "the Fanny Chmelar" Walsh. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmwGFX5pgXw[/ame] No blueprint. Bradley Walsh KO1. :deal
I've never really bought into (or maybe cared) about number 3 in that list. Its a common complaint when people discuss **** fights, and this is def. a **** fight, but most fans will know that and most of the the ones who don't won't give a monkies as long as they have a few bevvies and a good night out. Not sure about #4 either. I pay Boxnation to see boxing but I'm realistic enough to know a certain percentage of it is going to be mediocre or even poor. For me it whether the package as a whole gives me value for money, not whether I approve of individual fights.
In all fairness, is this match up that much different to Cleverly defending his title against Bellew?
