Its like what happened to Judah after losing to PBF and Cotto. Two of the best boxers out there. He had to take a fight against a guy named Edwin Vazquez. And this was an ESPN fight so a little more money and exposure for the opponent. Plus Judah was a champ with some huge hype before the upset to Bladomir. This is where it sucks being a fighter. There are literally only a hand full of fighters at any given time making half decent money. And only a fraction of these will ever see 7 figure pay days. One loss most likely will drop you huge, and a second can put you back where you started. Miranda was close to the 7 figure pay days twice. Now he is making chump change. Not his choice, just the way it turns out.
Hey, I dont disagree. I am sure there is someone better they could of found. But I would guess the promoter got sick of getting no after no for this fight and he finally found someone willing to take the fight under the conditions. I mean, even if they found a guy 2-3 times better, it really does nothing for Miranda's future. He is just taking a fight to fight. In Jan the opponent wont change, and that should be the guy that will pole vault him back into a title shot.
Again, look who Quintana just fought this weekend. He came off a disappointing title loss to Paul Williams. He needed to get back in the ring and get a win. He fought some guy with a record of 14-15-1. It happens all the time.
Lets just hope the guy doesn't get hurt because this is one of the biggest mismatches i have seen in a long time. :good
So let me get this traight:This guy made his debut at 14 at 120 lbs time which he lost to Reggie Strickland, had 8 years off and last time fought at 204 lbs?How can that even be possible?
I was one of the "only 10 posts" who ripped you before the Miranda fight. I have worked with Kelly's father for 18 years. I have known Kelly before he turned pro. I typically only lurk on here and never post but you were such an ASS with Miranda that I did post a few things. Your tone has changed a bit since May 2007. You went way over board and deserve all the **** you have taken b/c of your actions.
Well, then all those Kelly bashing posts are directed to you! Hey, I deserved it. I took it (of course I cried for a few weeks before I came on here and dealt with it). I admit that I have gone overboard with my bashing. But I got a ton of overboard bashing myself. An eye for an eye.... There are some good Pavlik supporters on here (Hermit for one). And I hate to sould like such an ass to them. But I gotta give back what was given to me. :deal
this type of mismatch does not happen all the time...there are plenty of guys out there..joe spina manfredo etc...why a guy with out a fight in 8 years...that is pointless and dangerous...kind of like a rematch with KP would be
but pantera didnt do **** to pavlik...u r bashing a fighter that annihilated ur guy...so what does that make ur guy...:hi:
I have Manuel "the plumber" Esparza winning this fight via first round TKO. Has Miranda started his extensive trash talking leading up to this fight yet? "I will completely destroy his ability to fix leaks and repair toilets come November 11th" :rofl
About the trainer, did you have that feeling before the Abraham 2 ? No disrespect here, just that before the fight you seemed so sure of a victory. Whats the problem. Motivation, sparring, trainings methods, boxing style or ?
I did feel confident. Miranda's weight was always my worry, but he was at weight 2 days before the fight and had come down slowly (unlike Pavlik where he lost 15lbs in 2 days). So, yea, I thought being at 100% (weight wise) he would have had a good shot to beat Abraham. Why I think he lost? Well, for one, Abraham was the better man. No doubt. But Miranda had blown up to 220lbs after the Banks fight and had to lose 60+lbs to make weight. He hired a nutritionist to help him do this. Apparently, when you need a nutritionist to lose weight, it is a bad sign. It was even mentioned on Showtime that the Abraham camp caught wind of this and used it in their gameplan. Miranda lost the weight and looked amazing (at least for a body builder). But it seems by having to lose so much weight he didnt not feed his body what it needed to fight. So early on he was winded and Abraham's power felt 'like a baseball bat hit him in the head'... 60lbs is a **** load of weight to have to lose! Again, I am not making excuses, you asked my why I think he lost. He very well would have lost no matter what he did right. Miranda's biggest problem is his disipline, which I blame his trainer. He used to be a gym rat and stay close to weight. I guess, being from the street, he had lessons in life to learn. He made so good money and got lazy. He lost the hunger. Miranda is a kind of guy that needs to be hungry as hell and have 100% staminia to have a chance at the top guys. If his heart is not there he will lose. He doesnt have the skill to beat these guys.
