I wonder if he’ll look to go back to the catchweights if and when GGG leaves,my problem with this is for an elite fighter that Canelo undoubtedly is he just hasn’t picked up many titles has he?

Then the computers are screwed up.......................what is the excuse for the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO? Did Stiverne deserve to be #1 without fighting for it? How about Breazeale? Very sad indeed.............

    GGG Canelo
727 points before fight 1,119 points
858 points after fight 988 points
    http://boxrec.com/en/event/751017/2160855
There's the result of a controversial draw. Canelo lost 131 points and GGG gained 131.

Let's look at the boxrec results of a controversial win for Canelo.
    Canelo Lara
743 points before fight 438 points
742 points after fight 450 points
    http://boxrec.com/en/event/689860/1879451
Canelo lost 1 point and Lara won 12.

And here's Canelo's boxrec rating after a clear loss.
    Mayweather Canelo
1,446 points before fight 886 points
1,552 points after fight 831 points
    http://boxrec.com/en/event/672751/1806059
Mayweather won 106 points and Canelo lost 55 points.

Let's take a look at other controversial fights.
Lara vs Williams was a controversial loss for Lara.
    Williams Lara
457 points before fight 129 points
384 points after fight 203 points
Williams lost 73 points and Lara gained 74.

    Bradley Pacquiao
470 points before fight 1,194 points
840 points after fight 825 points
    +370 -369

    Bradley Chavez
593 points before fight 107 points
431 points after fight 269 points
    -162 +162

    Pacquiao Horn
989 points before fight 165 points
550 points after fight 607 points
    -439 +442

    N'Dam Murata
150 points before fight 91 points
138 points after fight 107 points
    -12 +16

    Garcia Herrera
821 points before fight 88 points
706 points after fight 204 points
    -115 +116

This is frustrating. Boxrec is inconsistent. Sometimes it awards the guy who was robbed partial credit, and other times not. It looks like what usually happens is that half of the difference in resume points gets awarded to the winner when the loser has more points than him. I'm guessing that for a draw the guy with more points goes down but not as much as a loss and the guy who goes up doesn't go up as high. But I'm not seeing consistent percentages and sometimes the guy who lost has his numbers go up and the guy who won has his numbers go down. Someone is tinkering with the numbers in some of these fights, but not in all controversial fights. What's weird is that the numbers don't even come out equal all the time.

    Mayweather Castillo
925 points before fight 429 points
1,022 points after fight 393 points

I'm gonna' try and figure this out. Mayweather gains about a hundred points after the first Castillo win the same as he does for the Canelo win. But Canelo and Mayweather both had about 400 more points at that time, so I'm guessing if you have 500 more points than the guy you beat you get 100 points for beating them no matter how how high they are?

    Trinidad De La Hoya
631 points before fight 1,026 points
840 points after fight 817 points

    Mosley 2 De La Hoya
353 points before fight 945 points
667 points after fight 631 points

    Griffin Jones Jr.
323 points before fight 827 points
577 points after fight 572 points

Okay, it seems pretty consistent across these three. Lower guy gets half the difference in points higher guy loses half the difference. But what about when the higher guy gets the controversial win or the winner gets popped for drugs?

    Toney Tiberi
703 points before fight 51 points
509 points after fight 246 points
Looks like they gave Tiberi almost total credit for winning, even though the scorecards said he lost.

    Found another one.
    De La Hoya Sturm
563 points before fight 118 points
490 points after fight 193 points
Looks like whoever monkeys with the point system didn't think De La Hoya won the Sturm fight.

This is the 100th thread boxrec's ratings have been mentioned, I think we're awell aware how bad they are. Who cares, they don't mean anything, ESPN's rating have more impact on public perception. Just use boxrec's ratings to very broadly guage the level of a guy you aren't too familiar with, don't expect them to indicate who's more accomplished/better/more likely to win a matchup.

Obviously the ratings are just a minor addition, the site's purpose is records, and for that it's an amazing resource for, ffs you spoiled young brats.

I have a popup blocker but that doesn’t work with Boxrec because it sends a redirect. A popup blocker will only stop a new window from opening. With a redirect, no new window opens but the website that you are on (in this case Boxrec) automatically sends you to a different website within the same browser window (thus redirecting you from Boxrec to the spam site).

She actually didn’t notice it. But it’s obvious that boxrec’s html code has been hacked into and malware inserted. I don’t know why they won’t fix it as this has been going on for a long time. It was one thing when it sent you to just stupid spam sites, but now it’s redirecting to porn. They need to pay the money and get it fixed, instead of spending all their time on these stupid ratings that suck anyway.

Hm. It's perfectly fine for me with no new spam or anything at all occurring over the years. Hey, I'll take it.

I use Firefox + ad blocker and haven't seen an ad or popup in years at the boxrec site.

It's hard to take their ratings seriously, as they constantly have to manually change things as their algorithm skyrockets another mediocre fighter up the rankings after a unexpected win.

Say what you want, but Canelo is the bigger man, naturally bigger. I guarantee he walks around 10 to 15 lbs heavier than GGG.
