Just look next to Hamzah Sheeraz's name on boxrec at middleweight . He's moved up 28 places from 48th to 20th without even having a fight for no reason!! how is that possible?

And in the same division Fiodor Czerkaszyn had his best win last week yet has moved down 6 places. Strange.

Also Jesse Hart has always throughout his career has always been undeservedly way higher than he deserved.

    Makes me wonder..

No. It is an absolute meaningless ranking, so why would anyone pay? It is also based on a algorithm and a set of arbitrary rules, so there are wide anomalies.

All that not withstanding, I actually like it as a simple frame of reference. It is the worlds's only attempt at making a scientific rating system, albeit a fantastically flawed one. I think is is legit to enter into a conversation, "well boxrec has fighter X ranked this high..." although just as a starting point. Boxing is not a statistical sport, even if the math were based on good assumptions, and it is all about the intangibles.

Bukkake and Jason Gordon like this.
