well this is disappointing, after fighting nobodys for the last 3 years after wins against byrd and chambers, I thought a win against chagaev was a move in the right direction and we were going to see fights between povetkin and the top contenders or even a klitscko.

If Povetkin, chambers, Helenius Adamek and Haye would all fight each other it could be a pretty exciting division.

Chambers vs Thompson has also been added, as an IBF eliminator.

Did ANYONE NOT see this coming.:admin

    Cmon people.....just cmon.

Pot will fight Holy, then Rahman, then maybe Adamek, but until it's mandated, he will NEVER fight a Klitschko.

In fairness Povetkin was always going to take an easy/money fight after Chagaev. The speed that this fight seems to have been made tells me Sauerland plan to have Povetkin as active as possible now fighting low risk opponents as often as possible before his WBA status is up, which I think is 18 months. Then he will retire or cash out against a Klitschko.

Never the less Holyfield is a disgraceful opponent. Still, going by ESB average poster Povetkin will now become a legend due to beating a legend.

Thank goodness Friday Night Fights is over for the year. I wouldn't be able to bear listening to Atlas using the show to promote Povetkin as the real heavyweight champ of the world. Hopefully Holyfield beats him so Atlas doesn't get the chance to do this next year.

I think I was just being optimistic, with Helenius facing a better level of opponent at the same time I was also hoping it could lead to a matchup between those two.
Nobody really recognises pov as a champ though, not while there is a super champion, what he has is what intercontinental belts are supposed to be.

While holyfield is still going there are going to be attempts to get the record for oldest champion. Which is really **** if he is not going to do it by beating the best. Hopkins is a legitimate champion by beating the best, foreman and holyfield attempts at being oldest champion are meaningless as they are not done by beating the best just attempts to pick up easy belts

Hopefully Holyfield gets beaten by a wide decision, but not really hurt.

Then he has to retire as there'll be no fights left for him.
Might have his licence taken away

Yes, he did. The best Heavyweights at the time were Holyfield, Tyson, Lewis and Bowe. He didnt beat any of these. He failed against Holyfield, then failed at attempting to win the WBO against Morrison. He did beat Moorer which was a good win, but he wasnt the best in the division. He then lost the belts almost immediately for refusing to face Tucker or give axel schulz a rematch.

Atlas will say Povetkin is the real champion after the fight since he beat an ATG and that the Klitschkos are ducking him, I can see it now :yep
