RJJ should be higher than Bernard Hopkins.

A P4P list is nothing but opinion.

This isn't even an opinion of a human. Its been concocted by a computer program.

Don`t lose too much sleep over it guys.

I have never been one for P4P lists anyway. While active, and in my era Floyd is first IMO, but of all time i not only wouldn't agree, but also don`t know enough about other eras to make a decent call on all fighters from all weight categories and their opponents skill set. Its hard enough keeping up with current fighters!

My guess on why Floyd came up as number 1 may be something to do with something i heard him say on an old video clip when he did his own P4P list on TV..... He has faced more champions than any other Champion. That could possibly boost you in Box recs Scoring system. Plus he is unbeaten.

Boxrec put Floyd at n.1 for a very simple reason: they want money.

They know all the Floyd fanboys that populate this forum don't care about records, so they don't use boxrec. Now they will use it because their gаy idol is n.1 on the site.

People who really know boxing have always used boxrec and will continue to use it regardless of this ridiculous new list.

It's all click-baiting for stupid people, and the most stupid fans are Floyd fans.

The positive aspect of all this is that the ignorant Floyd fans will finally visit boxrec and they might actually start using it to do some research.

I'm not one of those guys who thinks Jim Jeffries would KO every HW past 1950 but wtf no Henry Armstrong? Floyd and Pacman shouldn't be in top 15.

This is like asking "What are the top 10 movies of all time" and someone makes a list with Rambo on it.

At least Boxrec could have used some sort of statistical ****yses as they have all the data.

It appears that there are many differing opinions as to what Pound for Pound actually means. And the Idea of an All-Time P4P list is even more difficult than a regular P4P list consisting of active fighters as they are now.

An All Time Pound 4 Pound list requires you to decide what version of that fighter you use. For example, Roy Jones Jr was the #1 P4P fighter in the World in the 1990s and early 2000s. Then he got knocked out and he slowed down, he lost his confidence, his skills diminished and his stock dropped.

Pound for Pound in my view is about skills, not necessarily wins and losses or accomplishments. (skill factor per pound) How skilled are you and how does that translate to your performances in the ring. (regardless of weight / weight class) I think it’s really a measure of personal opinion as far as how you rate that, but by that definition it’s impossible to do All Time P4P lists because you have to decide which version of that fighter you are looking at.

If you look at Roy Jones first 50 fights and compare it to Bernard Hopkins first 50 fights, I don’t think anyone would doubt that Roy Jones was the more skilled, more naturally gifted, and more entertaining fighter in the ring. If you look at Roy Jones first 49 fights and compare it to Floyd Mayweather’s first 49 fights, you could argue Roy Jones was more skilled, and was more dynamic in the ring, etc and thus he was better Pound for Pound than Floyd. Then Roy fell off with KO losses and his stock dropped, so if you look at Roy Jones from 2004-2016 then you could say he was no longer as skilled as he once was. So between those years Floyd was still in his prime, so after 2004 it would be impossible to have Roy ahead of Floyd anymore. That had more to do with Roy becoming unhealthy than Floyd or Bernard moving up. In the 1990s Roy was the top dawg in all of boxing and the most skilled entertaining boxer in boxing, regardless of weight or weight class. Roy also stayed in the sport much longer than Floyd. Roy was essentially undefeated for his first 50 fights similar to Floyd now at 49-0, but then Roy fought on while Floyd didn’t. There’s no way to really look at a boxer’s whole entire career because Pound for Pound has always been more about the current version of a boxer.

If you look at only the prime versions of a boxer to compare All Time Pound 4 Pound, then you’ll have to really pinpoint what years prime is for each guy. If you are comparing Pound for Pound “skill factor” during their primes, then for Ali that would be Cassius Clay / Muhammad Ali in the 1960s, not in the 1970s.

Ali had ATG wins in the 1970s, but he wasn’t as skilled Pound for Pound as he was in the 1960s. If you are looking at Prime, then Sugar Ray Leonard would have to also be up there (early 1980s SRL, not Late 1980s)

How about Prime 1980s Tyson? He was highly skilled. It’s seriously ridiculous and insulting to boxing fans how they just release a All-Time P4P list like that, and put Floyd Mayweather #1 over all these guy, especially right after Ali died.

I bet if you asked the guys at BoxRec who put that list out what Pound for Pounds means, they would probably would each define it differently. And I bet the list was an average of multiple people’s rankings, and they just naturally gravitate to Floyd Mayweather simply because he’s more current and undefeated. Like I said, it’s insulting to me as a boxing fan to see that list, not just because Floyd is #1 but because there’s really no such thing as an All-Time Pound for Pound list without explaining how you are evaluating fighters. Again, Pound for Pound is really about looking at a specific version of a fighter and judging their skill factor as a boxer, not wins and losses or accomplishments.

That list makes fackall sense. Marciano beat both Louis and Moore and is unbeaten and is nowhere in sight. Greb p4p should probably be in the top 3 if not #1. And wtf is SRR? GTFO here with this garbage ...

Whoever doesn't agree with #1 doesn't really know too much about the sport, so I really don't blame anyone complaining about it because those guys don't know ****

Now more to the more important matters at hand

Fact is - Stats don't lie and stats show us that Floyd is truly the best p4p fighter of all time!!!

    2. The list would be a lot better if Pac was not at #4. On any credible list, he would not make top 50, never mind #4. :patsch

    3. I'd have SRR/Greb/Armstrong/Langford top 4 along with Mr.Mayweather.

I've been calling Floyd the best, he really is TBE.

    ESPN AGREED
    All the contemporary boxers agree
    Now BOXREC :nod
