On the big Top Rank PPV on march 28th card Jose Luis ''El Temible'' Castill takes on Antonio Diaz who is on his comeback trail himself.Altough Castillo's title winning efforts he says will be at 140,I can't even think this fight would be at a catchweight cuz Diaz was a full WW even before his layoff. Now Diaz hasn't faced any big WW opponents since coming back but he is the bigger man and I would favor him to beat Castillo but it certainly is a better fight than the Lujan fight.Jose Luis can't but be praized for taking yet another big challenge in this part of hiscareer. This is from boxrec btw so it might change but the card is pretty close tough.

Not like he has a choice.

I think Castillo will take it, the version of Diaz that fought Mosley or beat Cory Spinks & Ivan Robinson is long gone.

I wonder at what age and after how many fights Jose will finally have enough money to call it a day.

Really?I mean did you pick Lujan to beat him?Have you seen anything of Tono's comeback?:think
Anyway it's pretty obvious that that Diaz is gone as is the Castillo that was bwating Casamayor,Lazcano,Antonio's brother, arguably beat Mayweather,Johnston etc.
Anyway after his last fight in a ninterview Jose Luis said that this is his last title run,he said himself that he feels he doesn't have more than 4-5 fights left. That is coming from him,we know boxers, especially old ones tend to overrate themselves,in reality I'm not sure he has 2.

Is there any reason why Castillo is still fighting?

When you've missed numerous weights, you are 35 years old, have had over 60 fights, just lost easily to Lujan and are fighting 12lbs over your prime weight there are some clear indications.

Good luck to him all the same...but I wish for him to retire.

I was wondering where you were,I know you are a Jose Luis fan.
He said his title run would be at 140,he said he would take a fight against ''a ranked opponent'' in march and then a fight at 140 in october,a supposedly ''big fight''.Obviously if he wins.
Yes,I saw the Wayka fight, how could I miss a Castillo fight?
He looked slow and hittable but the left hook to the body was beautiful. He still has a good body attack but is slow as hell. It's hard to analyze over 2 rounds....

Just a final title run.He said he would quit after 4-5 fights even winning all of them.He knows he is done. The glory of another title and need of money are your answers probably.

He's deeply in debt and needs the money.

Lujan was always going to beat him on the basis that he was a decent contender at welter and a high volume puncher, Castillo simply couldn't keep up with that pace.

I'm picking to beat Diaz on the basis of Oscar's pretty long break, and the fact that looking at his record he's only been fighting 8 rounders against relatively poor opposition and dropping a few rounds.

I think Castillo is finished, but Diaz is aswell, and Jose's class and better activity should see him through.

Pissed them all up the wall like most boxers.

It's a shame when you see guys like Castillo still having to fight for a living after years of creating a HOF legacy.

And when you see other ATG fighters like Joe Frazier, living in relative poverty in the back room of his gym.
