Does anyone have any idea how this works? I was just looking at the British pound for pound list and none of it made sense to me. Eubank Jr is sitting at number 2 for some reason.
Their rankings don’t make a lot of sense to me... Callum Smith is top 10 pfp according to them. Groves win was good but still...that’s not even the craziest... They seem to really rate Groves based on Eubank and Smith’s rankings.
Yeah it’s a bit all over the place Bob ajisafe is ranked highly but when was the last time he was relevant?
Since the Groves loss all Eubank has done is beat a shot to bits DeGale and beat JJ McDonagh who took a dive. It’s hardly impressive or merits him being number 2 in the British p4p. They must have ranked a shot DeGale highly - in their ranking system they are not able to accurately rate wins if a fighter is completely gone (like DG was). They must have given Eubank the points as if he was beating a prime DG. Boxrec is generally a better ranking system than anything else out there, although there are some boxers who are in the wrong place. The top 20 HW boxrec rankings are pretty good
It's often quite bad, they can't seem to get the formula right as we see too many anomalies in there, certainly when there was an upset of some sort, which they then have to correct manually before too many people notice. Inoue's P4P status is laughable at #33 at the moment (GBP/Ring #4, TBRB #3).
It's here if you can be bothered to read it http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/BoxRec_Ratings_Description There are some odd ones like Eubank but you have to remember that even if it's blatantly obvious that Degale was "shot to bits", that is still subjective and not taken into account by Boxrec's objective rating system. On the whole it does a good job.
Cheers for that. I thought it may have been something relatively simple but about twenty seconds flicking through that, I realised it wasn't.
