Oh I agree. Joe and Andre would get the same result just using different methods. both are far more skilled and adaptable with Ward relying a little more on manhandling. Although Ward was never considered heavy handed he looked bigger and stronger than Froch physically and was ragdolling Froch for the majority of the fight before he gassed in the last few rounds. Froch had a great chin. very good gas tank and was determined winning a few fights coming from behind towards the end of a fight. That being said lacked elite skill and speed which against the likes of Joe. Andre and Roy would end in a clear loss.
I don’t think he did enough for top 50. It’s not that he wasn’t great, it’s that there’s just been many many great fighters over the sport’s history. Like I said previously, a guy like Mike McCallum doesn’t make anyones top 50. So how could Joe rate that highly.
H2H I rate Joe higher - Zags is a H2H nightmare for most fighters - IMO, for reasons previously stated. I agree his resume doesn't merit a high ranking, but H2H is a different story for me - as always YMMV
If you consider someone to be the SMW GOAT, then it would make sense for them to be in the top 100 P4P ATG. The only question is, is Joe Calzaghe the SMW GOAT?
Not soo much when you consider how old 168 is compared to the other divisions, and that it's been more 'pass thru' weight class.
If 10 boxers from each of the traditional 8 categories entered the top 100 P4P, and only 1 boxer from the younger categories; again, the GOAT of some of the "younger categories" would be a candidate for the top 100 P4P. Many of the younger categories have been around for 40 years.
