Ranking Tank over Taylor is like .....incredibly corrupt.

Taylor would destroy Tank in a boxing fight.

    Did not had lurked.
I always had opinion that boxrec ranking system is good and legit.
If they really had ranked Tank higher than Taylor at 140 lbs, this might be big surprise for me.
Taylor" resume is better than Tank's resume at 140 lbs for sure. 1 fight at 140 lbs vs some ? regular belt and better than Taylor.
Okey, ranking should be impacted also by achievements in fights at lover weight classes before moving up to 140 lbs.
Who Tank had beated at 135 lbs?

I notice that yesterday and it's just sad and pathetic

AND he was ranked number 1 at lightweight before that, without even fighting top 3 guys there, not to mention 140 division.

It's a very hard job to rank boxers by an algorithm, but you'd still think they could do better. Tank isn't just ahead of Taylor, he's close to double the points. I believe Santa Cruz gave him a massive points boost.

I get the impression they run it, make sure that the top 10 has a lot of top 10-ish names and tweak it if it doesn't.

Whoever created it just loves any HW who fought after 2000. Check page 2 of the all time P4P list to see Errol Spence ranked well ahead of Ali, Marciano, and Greb and just one place behind Julio Cesar Chavez.

Look, I will wrote here one simple flowchart and explain why what is there.
We all do know 4 most well respected and well known pro boxing orgs? Yeah.
    So next part of algo?

Boxer A does have 4 belts from all these orgs.
Boxer B does have 1 belt from 1 org.

I will not dig in long drama or evalue belts.

A= belts IBF, WBO, WBA , WBC.
    B= belt WBA.

So there is simple algo based on belts boxer does have today.

Well, I think that now inactive boxers should be ranked separately.
And if we use undefeated pro record & number of fights done as criteria, nor Marciano nor Floyd will be No1.

Also it is impossible in real to compare boxers from modern era and boxers from 15 rounders era.
More than this: before 15 rounders era was 20 and 30 rounds fights era in boxing. Jimmy Barry had record 58-0-10 in such era and how we are able to compare this with 15 rounds, not alone 12 rounds boxing era? mathematically is easy ofc if simple algo: undefeated in all 68 pro boxing fights.

This stuff is the least important, least wanted, most toxic part of boxing and I wish it would stop.

Not just/only this specific incident, but broadly speaking.

It makes the sport look stupid, like the corruption is so entrenched and commonplace that nobody even bothers to try and hide it anymore.

Idk man...not a Tank fan myself, but playing devil's advocate here, stopping unbeaten titlist El Azteca in his weight class debut carries more weight than anything the rest of the pack has done lately barring TTT. (I do think Rougarou is still a better h2h light welter, but this is a what've you done for me lately sport and since the unification loss to Josh he only has victories over Heráldez and the battered husk of Redkach in ten-rounders)

We may not like it but he objectively does probably already deserve to be ahead of the likes of Chon, JCR, etc.

Boxrec's rating have always been a bit of a joke.
Especially the pound for pound ones, which not too long ago had Inoue at 24 after his WBSS triumph, with a couple of pretty meh fighters rated above him.
Of course there are others. What is Chilemba still doing at #12 @168 for instance, going 2-5-1, 0KO's over the last 6 odd years? I mean, I like the dude, and he had a couple of bad decisions against him in opponent's backyards, but that was a long time ago now.
Of Yafai #5 at Bantam? How? Why? What has he done at Bantam to put him just behind the group of Inoue, Donaire, Rigo and Casimero?! :dunno
