Good. His bluff has been called. Now lets see if he sticks to his word which he never does.

Or maybe everyone else should care less about what he say. Everyone being pulled by nose jumping to his every word. That's probably why he does it. The joke on them not him!

You are almost certainly right. My only hope is that Usyk being Ukranian becomes a powerful enough symbol that the WBC make an exception to their shitty policies.

I take it Fury has not relinquished the belt and this thread is as Jess Jackson would say, moot.

Well, he just made a dominant defense of the World title three weeks ago, so by all means remove him from the ratings.

    :hang

Tyson Fury doesn't have to defend his title for 12 months. Whyte was a mandatory. Next mandatory is due at the end of April 2023. The WBC can't strip him until then, either. Fury is under no obligation to make voluntary defenses.

Also, I thought boxrec didn't remove people from the ratings until they were inactive for 12 months ... not three weeks.

Once people start rating fighters, they all want to start stripping them. It's like a virus.

IF Fury is really retiring, Parker-Joyce or Ruiz-Ortiz should be for the belt or the winners.

    Welcome to the WBC.

Their rankings have been used as nothing more the last bastion of the American circuit since Vitali's retirement. They put the kabosh on Wlad v Stiverne for undisputed, and their rankings have been a publicity stunt ever since.

People say wow they have it about right, all the top fighters are in there. And yet Wilder dined out on the dregs of the division for 5 years...

Having Wilder still as #1 after back to back KO losses should be a massive red flag. But then again, I thought there had been plenty of other red flags these last 5 to 10 years...

Likelihood is they make Fury Champion-emeritus. Set-up some drawn out eliminator tournament until the right man wins. And undisputed gets kicked down the road yet again.

Why difference does it make to him to not be on boxrec? It is not like someone is stripping him of a belt.

Only difference it makes is for boxrec to look stupid and reduced credibility of its rating.

They look ridiculous not having a current world champion and belt-holder who, in his last four fights, has beaten their currently no3 ranked HW three times and their no4 ranked HW once, just because Fury says he's retired. While he holds a belt he should hold onto his ranking too...

Even if he retired and give up belt he should rank for let's say at least 6 month after his last fight or actually more like 12. Unless he die or get sick or lose limb or whatever even retired fighters should keep rank for a while in event they change mind and come back. It makes sense and is for benefits of the other guys who could maybe get a fight arrange with him so they can be credited for taking on rank fighter. Boxrec being stupid
