Just noticed this on the Boxrec record for Holyfield vs Sherman Williams.

From Holyfield's side (his score listed first) :
"judge: Jim Frio 28-29 | judge: Rick Modesitt 28-29 | judge: Dale Hardwick 28-29 "

The scorecards weren't reported due to it being announced as a No Contest, but if Boxrec got the right info afterwards from those three judges, then Williams was in the driving seat towards having the win if 4 rounds had been completed rather than 3. He'd certainly be favourite to get the fourth round to clinch it, the way the third ended and Holyfield's body language.

I wonder if any of Holyfield's corner was aware of the scoring by this point.

Sorry, kinda picking at a wound here, I know...just thought it was worth mentioning as an added little wrinkle to this rather depressing story.

Well the conspiracy theorists in me, says that Holy's corner must have been thinking he would have been down on the cards going in to the 4th, and if it went there, of course it goes to the cards. I dunno, I guess they settled for a no contest rather than a potential defeat.

Bit of a ***** move if that's the case. Unless Holy really did have trouble with that eye, but I have seen far worse and fighters still go on. Just food for thought.
