After Fury beat Wilder in February , Fury jumped from 4th to 2nd taking Wilder's place behind AJ in rankings. Why in the last month since then has Fury jumped up again (despite obviously not fighting since the the Wilder rematch) to number 1? AJ went from number 1 on 913 points after beating Ruiz back down to ranked 3 on 521 points behind Wilder in the last month? That makes no sense. As well as Povetkin jumping ahead of Whyte and Ruiz in the last month updated rankings. Whilst Pulev has gone 8th after AJ vs Ruiz rematch to 13 this month?

    What's the logic behind this?

    Boxrec is awful.

the WBA has better rankings and that’s saying something.

    fury 2?

wilder even in the top 10?

    caaaaaam on

Boxrec has its flaws, and indeed, they are great, but it is interesting and citable as SUPPORTING EVIDENCE only because it is the only attempt in the boxing community to attempt a scientific approach to ratings. The problems are:

    1) All mathematical systems are garbage in, garbage out. If your weighted criteria are goofy, so will your results be.

    2) These things are partially subjective.

In my mind, Fury is #1 with a bullet over Joshua because...

    1) His win over WladKlit is the one that matters. He unseated the great champ. Joshua got him over a year older and ring rusty.

    2) Fury's #2 win is arguably, but not much arguably, the better. I have always argued that Wilder is a fraud. But perception in more than reality, and he has his legions of fans screaming that he was a world champ with nine defenses and the deadliest punch in heavyweight history.

    3) The narrative of Fury's comeback is bigger than boxing in the way that Foreman's or Leonard's was.

    4) There is no way to claim to be the best heavyweight with a recent loss to Andy Ruiz. It doesn't matter that he avenged it. Like Wlad's prime losses to lesser fighters, it is going to take a few years of re-building to erase that.

I like Joshus, and wish him well, but Fury #1 with a bullet, imo.

Boxrec has been updating their algorithm. Points get redistributed differently.

Oh, yeah, I see what you mean. The new rankings DO have Fury #1.

    Perhaps I should have looked.

But how does AJ go from being 1st with over 900 points in the second week of March to now 3rd with 500 points despite no fights taken place the past couple of weeks?

After their fights in December Ruiz and Whyte were ahead of Povetkin. How has Povetkin jumped ahead of Whyte and Ruiz despite no fights in the last two week?

How did Helenius jump ahead of Kownacki in their rankings when he beat Kownacki only for Kownacki just to placed ahead of him again?

Pulev dropping 8th - 13th in less than month despite the fighters ahead of him now not fighting in the past month with the excpetion of Parker?

    It makes no sense.

We are have been doing computerised ratings since 1993. Boxrec copied us.
    www.premierboxingorganisation.com/heavyweight-200
You can see the opposition quality of the last 20 fights. We produce a top 100 in each division.

Its not perfect, because their are some results that don't align with the eye, but that is sport.

Yeah I always refer to you guys, with boxrec as a secondary point of reference

    But now...PBO is the standard

Think boxrec will torpedo the credibility their rankings had
If they continue to put their fingers in their ears over this
