Just looking at the recent boxrec HW rankings and I see Fury has dropped to #12, while Solis has been placed inside the top 10 @ #8. Is that b/c Steve Cunningham lost, or Konstantine Airrich or Yakup Saglam have won huge fights recently???? I mean I know none of that happened but how does boxrec figure to compute Solis ahead of Fury???atsch
I suspect it's because of Fury's inactivity.... WHAT THE **** IS SOLIS DOING AT #8 THOUGH? That HAS to be a mistake. Doesn't make any sense, he's coming off of a loss to Thompson whos ranked at #25 himself :huh
It's more justifiable than Solis being at #8, there is literally no defending that. Boxrec goofed I think......
Solis had a good run before Thompson fight at least by boxrec. L****n undefeated streak. Airich was coming of a career bigest win in Pala who was ranked Boxrec # 16. +Saglam Tohmpson was ranked prety high on boxrec before Takam loss and that was a SD. Everyrthings elementary:roll: even if its not really correct.
Look where Thompson is ranked though..... And Solis hasn't fought since losing to Thompson, there is literally absolutely zero reason to rank Solis that high. Boxrec ****ed up, that's the only thing I can think of. Hopefully it'll be corrected soon. :good
Yeah they will, they even made Antonio Tarver #8 after his win against Mike Sheppard, but corrected that too :good
I am quite sure at the time of the Solis fight Thompson was in the TOP 10 maybe even five when he fought Solis and that was a SD similar amount of points hence Solis #8. Thompson lost to Takam after Solis hence the drop(a UD loss). They dont adjust for inactivity for about a year or smt.
Probably inactivity. TBH Boxrecs rankings aren't very good (but then neither are anyone elses IMO) - but one reason why you'll see guys inexplicable drop down the rankings is cos they use an algorithm which strips fighters of a percentage of their points (between 1 and 50%) if they haven't fought a fighter with over 50% of their own points within 18 months.. Looking at Furys records he woulda got docked a chunk of points last month cos Abel had such a low rating and his fight against Cunningham was back in Apr 2013. Boxrec provide a full breakdown of their points system: http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/BoxRec_Ratings_Description It's actually quite sophisticated and well thought out, but still comprehensively fails to provide rankings that seem satisfactory to most - just as with any other computerised system (or dare I say it, the more traditional ranking systems too). On a similar note you'll notice that Solis was himself stripped down from 424 to 359 points prior to the Thompson fight for the same reason, but the Thompson loss only cost him a coupla points because it was a close SD against a similar level fighter (they have an algorithm for working in how 'definitive' the fight result was as well based upon how close the judges cards were and awarding maximum points for Shutouts and KOs).
