I'd rather they focus more on the UK. We've 3 top line promoters and they can barely put 2 good fights on a card. Matchroom UK fallen through the floor since expanding
I disagree. It opens up more opportunities for UK based fighters to fight overseas. Sometimes that means UK cards fall off but it's good for them to fight in other countries represented by the home promoter. Like Billy Joe Saunders, Callum Smith and John Ryder all against Canelo. We have also seen some nice cross-over fights like Ryder Jacobs. We could see Yoka against Parker or Hughie Fury next for example. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing.
As you said originally the Okolie card looks really modest, would have been good to have him on there. If UK boxing was flying I'd agree.
But without Matchroom expanding into the US, the fight probably wouldn’t have been able to take place.
A US based fighter wouldn't travel? Happened loads in the past when the moneys right Poor example bud
It makes sense that Boxxer / Sky are expanding their business and it would be gratifying if they could help revive the French boxing scene. The EBU The title fight is good but who wants to watch the main event ? Yoka is not a particularly exciting boxer....
Its because Bens got dates to fill and not enough headlines ready to go. They had a date on 11th March which fell out of bed. they have a real lack of headlines they can put together on 2 weeks notice so they bought into this show. They dont have enough headliners and the ones they do have are in lingering negotiations. Shows how thin the rosters are. Surely they could have gone to York Hall with Azeez as headline and built some of their fighters. Feel like we are going to have a show with a bunch of no name french fighters
Ben Shalom is like one of Henry VIII's servants picking through the chicken carcasses and cold parsnips once the lords and ladies have retired to their chambers for some rumpy pumpy
Apparently Boxxer wanted to put Bakole on the undercard but Yoka and his people said they wouldn't have it!
Mcgrail has signed with Matchroom and will fight on their card on March 11 in Liverpool. It just hasn’t been announced yet.
Lol. This aged hilariously well. Bet Hearn will have a good laugh reading some of the responses to this thread. Imagine if I said some of the same things about there being trouble for Warren or Shalom. I would get called of being obsessed with Matchroom and Hearn. Where's the same energy for posters who do the same if not worse? Reason I bumped this is to show how many people thought Boxxer and Sky would be competing and taking over from Matchroom and DAZN. Just hasn't happened though has it.
