Ahhh, so that's a no then. Thankyou P.s - he does do interviews, have your 'sources' forgotten to tell you this time
Lol - I was half expecting the clown to give his usual bottom of the barrel level of response "Koogs said innit"
Stick the twat on ignore I can't for the life of me figure out why he posts here 80 per cent of users don't like him but he is desperate to talk boxing with those same people
Good call - he's an absolute Bell pipe Hopefully it won't be too long until admin deal with him again and we can go back to having a decent forum again
Seems that the Lauren Price ‘ world championship’ fight is also on BBC Wales. The BBC seem to think that women’s boxing is the pinnacle of the sport. They would never show a Cordina defence. If you look at their boxing page on their website it’s mostly news about women boxers. Pathetic really.
Couple of things I can add here. Building a tool for the BBC that recommends personalised content, I asked (as a sports fan) if I could personalise women's sport out of it. They told me editorial control would over-ride my preferences! Secondly... women's boxing rights will be dirt cheap. They'll make it sound like the world cup final though.
When really it's low quality shite, at world level it has roughly the competition pool of area level in men's boxing with no where near that much talent.
Last week's card was one of Boxxer and Sky's best night of boxing since they hooked up, but I'm still lukewarm on their coverage. Andy Clarke is good, calls the fights well and is genuinely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Anna Woolnough is a decent presenter. Couple of issues... 'Big Mo'. Mo is indeed big and he has the voice to go with it, but the spiel he's developed is straight from the David Diamante school of gibberish. Am I the only person who does not need to be bellowed at before and after each bout? I'm starting to appreciate Thomas Treiber and Dev Sahni, because, despite the slightly second hand car showroom oiliness at times, at least they don't have everything turned up to 11 all the time. Set design. The grey ring and supposedly eco friendly lights look drab and I'd absolutely hate to be watching from up high with those stupid long hanging lights in the way. Jonny Nelson - enough already. Matt Macklin - he sounds bored. I think he's had enough. He used to be better, at least I think he did. That stupid music they play before the ring walks. Make it stop. Now most of this probably falls at the broadcaster rather than the promoter and I do credit Sky for hanging in there when Eddie did one and keeping going with boxing. It just feels like a revamp is needed? TNT sport these days are doing it better. Frampton has been a find as a pundit, Bunce has never looked back since growing the beard and the ring is brighter. I think they're the clear number one at present.
I agree with many of your points - in particular I think Boxxer / Sky has a big problem with how the boxing ring looks visually. It is not inviting to look at. In fact, it's ugly. TNT Sports does it well. Buncey and Frampton are excellent together in the studio and Woodhall is a really good co commentator, but sometimes they use a young man as a studio host and it doesn't seem very credible (He looks like a youtuber). They need to change that. Otherwise I agree with you.
I nearly mentioned him but took pity. I guess they're trying to encourage a younger audience, a laudable goal, just wish he didn't come off as if he'd won a competition to be a presenter for a day. Anytime he is presenting the viewers (me) should be given the alternative red button option of Paul Dempsey insulting random people in a giant bubble bath. Then explaining how things would change if we finally made him God Emperor.
That's a proper laugh-out-loud moment I needed today I mentioned on here one of the young guys TNT was using, he's ex-Children's BBC and a decent guy but I got the feeling he was being tried out rather than anything else - never really done sport before, more of an odd-job man going through a well-prepared script. You could say the same of someone like Laura Woods but at least she tries to have a bit of back-and-forth with the panel!
That's the fella. I don't want to come across as bigoted, I too had appalling hairstyles# when younger, but I don't get much of a feel from him that he's into boxing. Like you say it feels like he was the next presenter in the rank when the boxing job came up. #but to be honest not as bad as that. Although if I were as wee maybe I'd also aim to add a couple of inches via my bonce...
