Glamour and prestige of fighting at the O2 though, isn’t it? Looks much grander than if the ‘biggest womens fight of all time’ is at the MetroRadio arena or Whitley Bay Ice Rink. Same reason Hearn persists with shows at the O2 that wouldn’t even fill the Copper Box down the road.
Shalom admitted as much. He wouldn't admit that Shields wouldn't lower herself to fighting in the north-east, but made out the O2 was more prestigious for such a big occasion etc etc...
There was someone on here not long ago saying that Marshall and Shields are more skilled than Whyte and Chisora. This is the women's middleweight division https://boxrec.com/en/ratings?r[rol...ight&r[country]=&r[stance]=&r[status]=a&r_go= Whyte and Chisora would look better than Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis if they competed in a division against 20 barley white collar standard boxers.
They should have put it in Manchester - closer to Newcastle and might get a few more of the Peter Fury types attending.
I think a rammed Newcastle arena would look more prestigious than the 02 not sold out. I think they could have got 20-30,000 fans for this in North East if in a stadium up there.
