He can definitley box....but not like I think you feel. He's better than an average joe or a part time boxer, but the guy he was sparing caught him FAR too many times for me to be impressed. His striking in MMA is incredible b/c of his versatility. The elbows, knees, and kicks are way better than his boxing.

By far! BJ and Nate Diaz have pro boxing level hands. Not to say they'd be able to beat a boxing world champ at their own game but if they decided to put everything into boxing I beleive their talent level would allow them to capture a title.

I think Roach trained Penn so there may be some bias there...

He has the instincts of a boxer, I'll give him that. His actual tools are not impressive.

You must be a idiot. On the level of a kelly pavlik???

You know he has boxed and lost to journeymen calibre fighters.

He has crazy reflexes and good accuracy with his punches on stiff MMA fighters but in a 12round boxing bout against a quality boxer he wouldnt fair so good.

He can throw good punches, kicks, knees and has a granite chin.Thats why he is in carving up in MMA..

If he were indeed on the same level as a Kelly Pavlik then why wouldnt he be boxing and earning 3times asmuch do$h then he does in MMA??

I'm not saying he would not get beaten badly in real boxing, but you greatly underestimate the boxers they have.

If it was to a guy that has 21 loses it doesnt look good for him improving to the point that he could even think about fighting elite boxers.

What the **** is wrong with you guys idolizing this UFC bum... if you think Silva is some sort of king, go put on an affliction shirt, toss in a but plug and head out the gay bird...

Pavlik has no technical abilities whatsoever. He telegraphs all his punches, and without his power he wouldn't even be a champion. The only reason he beat Miranda, or Taylor is because of his power. I do believe Anderson Silva could outbox Kelly Pavlik, because Kelly Pavlik is not a pure boxer.

I do think Anderson Silva if he focused entirely on boxing could beat a Kelly Pavlik or even a Jermain Taylor, because these individuals have very limited boxing ability or very weak chins. Silva does have very good power, and he he in my opinion could have been a champion.

I don't think he could have ever beat a pure boxer but look at Cintron and Pavlik, these guys have won belts.

Lets look at what Silva does right, his technique is decent. He has amazingly good reflexes which would make up for his poor footwork. He has power in both hands, and a good chin. Honestly he looks a lot like a Froch type fighter and we know with proper training these sorts of individuals can win a title. We know Silva has the discipline and natural talent to win a championship belt on boxing, I don't think he would be a great boxer, but a very good boxer is enough to win a title in some of these divisions.

And no he doesnt stand a chance against Roy Jones Jr, and it was foolish of him to ask for that fight because he wont last 6 rounds.

lets be fair, Hopkins lost and Pacquiao lost. This doesn't really indicate how good a fighter is. We'd have to look at the tapes to see if he had the fundamentals like a jab and hook.
