He doesn't like Anderson but he likes Fedor See all of you guys are the kind of people who don't think with your own heads but go by the common wisdom of hands of any boxer>hands of any mma fighter. If you guys saw FMJ fighting MMA you'd be saying "no way he cuts it in boxing" But I love it how you throw in things like "his footwork is bad" etc. as if you know **** when I KNOW you couldn't tell me what specificaly you mean. I remember once on this forum a guy claiming Shane thinks more since he got with Naz and I pressed him on it (because I knew, like in your cases, he was just saying something that sounds smart) and asked him to show me an example of where he sees Shane thinking, and of course I didn't get an example. You are ******ed. Doesn't smth seem odd to you about that punch? isn't it harder and faster than other things they were throwing? The guy got steemed bc anderson was making him look like a fool so he stepped it up and threw a punch much faster than anything else he threw. Anderson swaggers and shows off to the point he allows himself to get hit. That bit that I mentioned that you guys don't think but rather, like sheep, abide by the common wisdom of boxers hadns>mma fighter's hands, this comment shows it so clearly. Pavlik is SOOOOOO CLEARLY not skilled as a boxer. He is light years behind anderson. Also, Freddie Roach said that Anderson goes 30-40% in the gym. So think how good he is when he goes for real. Not that you imbeciles can appreciate it.
Man, I really hate when people call someone's opinion stupid, which happens all the time here. You're welcome to any opinion you want, correct or incorrect. So I won't call your opinion stupid. I couldn't disagree more, but I won't say it. Here's the thing man ... we're not basing Anderson's boxing skills on his mma ability, as in your FMJ example. We're basing Anderson's boxing ability on watching him box. He's not a good boxer based on watching him box. Is PBF a good MMA fighter? I have no idea. probably not, but I don't know, I've never seen him do it. Is Anderson Silva a good boxer? Nope, I've SEEN HIM BOX. He's not good. Now back to the opinion thing ... yours, regardin Kelly Pavlik, related to Anderson Silva, is very incorrect. I'm sorry, I know what I just said, but your entire view is absurd. If Kelly was a bad boxer who simply had power he would have lost by now (at MW). He's been the best MW for a couple years and that's not just because Anderson Silva never laced them up against him, it's because he's a hell of a boxer.
You can't just say "Pavlik is SOOOO CLEARLY not skilled as a boxer. He is light years behind anderson." Based on what? Your opinion? So we should follow your common wisdom like sheep, but no one else's? Because based on everything I've seen, Kelly Pavlik is a much, much better boxer than Anderson Silva. But is it cool if I develop my own opinion, or am I to only agree with what you write? No joke, but have you ever watched KP box before? Seriously? Why are you quoting Roach? We're coming up with our own opinions, remember? We're not basing them on someone else's thoughts, that's sheep-like. Also, do you think you're the only person here who likes MMA? I don't, but I'd say at least thirty percent of the board is big on MMA. You don't know anything that anyone else here doesn't already.
Jesus...that guy hes in there with has the worst technique I've seen since Butterbean! He stands flatfooted, his hands are down and he is slow as ****...and he still manages to catch him a bunch. Silva is a beast in MMA, but he better stay out of the boxing ring. I've seen where him and RJJ want to fight, and I think even with RJJ as shot as he is, Silva has no chance of winning. lol
That was ****ing crazy. SIlva can really box, he got his opponant right mentally. Then the rest was a breeze.
The other guy looked like Chris Byrd. Silva was so so. He threw a lot of arm punches but when he did sit down on the straight left he did damage. It was just sparring and I feel Anderson took it easy on him. If Anderson used the left more he would have embarrassed that guy. The other guy was impressive too he landed some bombs. He had the harder shots and an ok jab just could not adapt to Anderson's movement and angles
the other guy was a bum and was gassed after one minute ffs, did they pull that dude in off the street and ask him if he wanted to spar a UFC champ?
I didn't see anythig particularly impressive. Yeah he moves nicely and times his punches and hed movement well, but I've seen guys better than that in every gym I've been in. Has the threadstarter not boxed before, cos to say someone would be a top 40 in the WORLD based on that sparring session is ludicrous in my opinion.
Maybe you idiots will value Roach's opinion: Anderson Silva, he comes to my gym and he wants to fight Roy Jones. He has four pro fights in Brazil but I don't think he's quite ready for Roy Jones yet. But he does have a lot of potential. He's a very good athlete. Do you think it's possible that Anderson Silva some day could compete with a Roy Jones, or is that not just realistic? I mean, Roy Jones is past his prime, but he's still a guy who has been boxing at the elite level for two decades. Is it realistic for Silva to think he could compete with a Roy Jones? I worked with Anderson, and I told him, "To fight Roy Jones, you're going to have to make some adjustments." Because he does make some fundamental mistakes. But when I show him the adjustments, he does pick it up very quickly. He's a very good athlete. I'd say the Roy Jones 10 years ago, that would never happen. But the Roy Jones today? Possibly. He definitely needs some work, though. http://www.mmafighting.com/2009/04/23/freddie-roach-on-mma-anderson-silva-vs-roy-jones-andrei-arlov/
hes the best mma fighter out right now. and the fact he goes to wild card with freddy to (i assuem) work on his striking shows how smart he is.
