    I also believed that Khan would have an easier time with Algieri.

    I did notice something that I had not thought about- at all- but not being much of a Khan follower I cannot say whether it is in his history:

    Khan seemed to have real trouble throwing speedy combinations due to Algieri's long (or longer) arms. I felt he backed off quickly on several occasions when he may not have needed to do so.

    IMO he either feared a counter or was frustrated by better defense than he expected. My speculation here doesn't matter, but I do think the bottom line is that his stock just plummeted for future meaningful matches. I've never been a fan of Khan's and am less so now.
