I am sure this thread will go away quickly but who knows ... So boxing is NOT a sport. It is entertainment. Least in the professional field. This is the plain truth. This really F!s things up. We are always complaining the people are ducking. This guy is avoided. Etc. Yet we do nothing about it. What can YOU do, you ask? Simple. BOYCOTT. Cancel your HBO and Showtime subscriptions. Don't purchase PPV's. Yes. It is that simple. We dont even have to ask for much, How about that ALL sanctioning bodies adopt a set ladder format for all boxers. So that they can not duck. Also set it so Title fight 60/40 split. Champion getting 60. In case of tie & rematch 50/50. Non Title -60/40 winner/loser I dont see us ever having an International Sanctioning Body but I do see the above taking care of allot of issues within boxing. Specially since it would give us fans better fights. Though an ISB to get rid of all the trinkets would be nice.
Silly idea and completely unenforceable. Which 'sanctioning body' do you think is going to be enforcing this in 'non-title fights'? Ladder format might seem fairer in principle, but boxers simply don't fight enough to make it practical. It would basically eliminate boxers moving up in weight. You couldn't have had Pavlik v Martinez and then Martinez v Williams, instead Martinez and Williams would have first had to make their way through myriad middleweight bums, neverhasbeens and fringe contenders. You think that is what the 'fans want'?
