He not only beat Bidenko, he knocked Bidenko out in the sixth round! It's hard to beat Bidenko, he's slick, good skills, but to knock him out?! I am very impressed!!!!!!!
I am so very impressed with his power, skills. He has proven himself pretty well so far, but Bidenko?! I just never expect a knockout by any means. WOW! Ustinov will be fighting on Vlad/Chagaev undercard. Shame on HBO for being stupid!
Thank god Boytsov has gone back to his power punching roots. After Sultan and Chag both moved to more of a boxing style, and Povetkin had his troubles knocking guys out, all we need is another young prospect who is not scoring KO's. I appreciate a good match of scientific boxing, but these are heavies, and SOMEONE is suppossed to be knocking guys out.
Klitschkos usually knock their opponents out, esp. Vitali. Look at their knockout ratios!!!!!!! Also, Ustinov will show us what he has on undercard.
Me too, and I am still a Bedenko fan, when he's in shape, and he was in shape. A couple of Boytsov's body punches shook Bidenko here and there.. I will admit that Bidenko's jab did not look as good as I've seen it. His elbow was further away from his body, than when he was younger. Boytsov has good short heavy fast hands, and he has great upper cuts.
He is only 23...you young guys, don't remember back when we had young contneders. like a couple of old farts on the com. Sometimes I really got to laugh....he's young, he's only 28..... Back in the day of the large tallent pool, and the single line of contenders....where the contenders had to fight contenders to say in line or advance, 28 was getting up there. 50 years ago, the old timers, who definatly lived in the deep tallent days, told me 26 was getting old for the lighter weights, 28 for the middle weights, and 32 was old as a heavy. Check out your tennis, reflexes, no one is great after 32....occasionally a selected few can win a big one or even a tournement after that...but it becomes a big thing, instead of ho hum normal it was at 26. Guys like Liston and Archi Moore fiddled with thier birthdays, because back in the old days, 32 was considered OLD. Folks did not put thier money on Old boxers, and if they did not put thier money on them, they did not put their paying asses in the seats. Having 4 belts allows old fighters to fight old fighters, and avoid young fighters. You had a Young Dempsy, a young Louis, a young Patterson, a Young Clay/Fraiser/Foreman/Tyson....and then you had a lot of old fighters not fighting young fighters in many weigh classes...suddenly young became 30-32?????? You can see what happens when an old fighter like DHL fights a young Pacman; he can't pull the trigger. Shane will have the same problem, he's old, and the reflex is slowed down. Of course you have a couple of Archi Moore's/Hopkins...but they fought young men, and were skilled enough to fake it real good.
Most of what you say is true but sports medicine, physical therapy and surgeries like the one Vitali had before he regained the championship have enabled older, more experienced fighters to last a lot longer at the top level of the sport. Also, at heavyweight these days the men are becoming truly huge and really big guys do take much longer to peak. Marciano retried at age 32 but he was 5foot 10 inches tall and about 190lbs. Wlad is over 6 and a half feet tall and over 240lbs. At age 33 he is just in his prime and would easily whip a 23 year old Wlad.
