Over at the scene. Vitali says Boytsov's not even a contender and thus not worth considering.

Boytsov hasn't show any willingness to get in the ring with any top 10 guy and get noticed. He keeps fighting old men.

He's with a financially weak promoter, has no TV contract and no big fan following. Boytsov has nothing going for him and it's all his own (and his management's) fault. Unless he starts beating top 10 guys he won't ever get a title shot.

I think his management, for whatever it's worth, knows he's more limited than he appears.

Of course. Remember also: his fights all occured in Europe, under protected circumstances (or worse).

It's not just that. 98% of the time, Denis seems positively BORED in the ring. Granted, he has much of Wlad's "careful" approach, which is laudable-but-boring. - But the guy never does more than he has to to win. He seems to be oblivious to the fact that this is showbiz.

Even if it's Universum's fault for all the cans he's fought (and that's surely the case) he still could have shown us some spark, some serious aggression, SOMETHING to make the fans take notice. He just doesn't seem to care.

Here's a clip of him throwing a knee after knocking a dude down. Does that count as spark?

    ^ No.

It does show that Denis is a good closer, though. (which we all knew already.)

And please don't bother with highlight videos. They never give a true picture of a fighter.

Boytsov used to look really promising, but he just fights like a stiff now. Very basic, plodding, and one-paced. Whatever natural athletic and physical ability he has, it's not being honed properly. He ought to fight a top 10-15 guy before even considering the Klitschko's.

Which protected circumstances? There's not a single fight where Boytsov has received questionable decisions, if that's what you're implying.

If you watch Guinns fights for instance, you'll see he keeps his chin tucked just under the thumbs when he's moving forward. During the Boystov fight, while Denis was initiating most of the holding/clinches etc, Dom was warned during these times for using his head.
He wasn't disciplined, but that ref for instance saw saw nothing wrong with Denis' leaning.
And that was a way closer fight that 99/91. More like 97/93 or 94.

 No it wasn't, 99-91 is about right, I only gave Guinn the 1st. You can give him 2 round at most and that's being pretty generous, so which 3-4 rounds did you score for Guinn, I wonder? :think

He is still a nobody and it seems his management knows it...

So they don't want to put him in the ring with anyone worth anything

... and instead they hope they can keep fighting nobodies and at some point in time cashing in on a fight with Vit or Wlad.
