Boza Edwards is hell for any 130lbs fighter.

Title pretty much says it all really.

Boza-Edwards was a very talented boxer, a tall upright stylist with a nice left jab and sharp combinations. His jab, although lacking variety was hard and direct and allowed him to pick his shots after it carefully. His sharp punches were quick and accurate and had power on them, especially since they were precise. Despite not being outstanding in the defence department he could slip and weave with the best of them and had some nice blocks when need be.

Unusually for such a textbook boxer-puncher he kept a very high pace and could force himself upon an opponent or just box with an opponent at a high pace. aswell as keeping this pace his form and composure remained the same making him always dangerous, he at times would mix-it-up abit too much with a brawler but against a boxer this works in his favour as he is able to do different things.

The proof in all of this can be seen in his bouts with Limon and Chacon. With both of them he was fighting two of the toughest Super-Feathers ever to live but he was able to hang with these guys, hurt and drop them, and 2 times out of 3 win, and the loss was very close. With Limon he sharp-shooted him on the inside at times and hurt the Iron-Chinned Mexican afew times, aswell as outboxing him. With Chacon he forced the pace and out-fought Chacon in the first fight.

You also have to remember Boza-Edwards, albeit breifly, did obtain dominance in a packed Super-featherweight division with his wins over Limon and Chacon.

Because of all this, I reckon in his prime on his best night Boza-Edwards can keep most Super-Featherweights, and H2H is certainly one of the best.

Anyone agree, or more better yet disagree?

How do you guys see him doing against other greats at SFW? such as:

    Sandy Saddler
    Kid Chocolate
    Flash Elorde
    Royal Kobayashi
    Sam Serrano
    Brian Mitchell
    Gennaro Hernandez
    Floyd Mayweather Jr
    Alfredo Escalara
    Julio Cesear Chavez
    Azumah Nelson

All action fighter definatly could hold his own against any fighter. A young Boza-Edwards gave Arguello a good tussel, until Alexis' vast experience took over. A Boza-Edwards-Arturo Gatti would have been an all time classic!

Courageous, courageous, courageous, and that he WAS....A warrior!

Boza is a legend, though you really should change the title to say"...except the bad boy from dadiangas".

Navarette put an absolute clinic on him.The talented, but inconsistent Rolando's finest moment.

Boza-Edwards participated in one of the top 2 or 3 fights Ive ever seen.... the rematch vs Bobby Chacon, what a fkn fight, 4 KDs & non-stop action & a close & really hard fight to score into the bargain.

He likely would give any 130 lber something to think about, he was big for the weight & had bags of heart.

Yeh, he also had some awesome skills aswell, I beleive he was arguably the best amatuer in the world at one point.

Aint seen the Navarette fight, you reckon Boza-Edwards was in top form and that ruined him or was he already on the downward slope?

He'd just come off tough fights with Limon and Chacon remember.

    One of my favrouites also.

Great stuff, i was a huge Boza fan back in the day. Chacon also has a win over him i believe he didn't deserve.

My dad thought Boza won it wide, although eh aint a big boxing fan. I had it by 1 to Chacon. if he had gotten the decision how do you thin his career pans out?

Aye, how do you see the Navareet fight, was that a genuine loss in his prime?

I think he was plain stopped. I know he couldn't beat the 10 count. I'll have to rewatch it.

Navarette could bang and with Boza'a style he could get caught.

Rewatched it mate. Rolando was plain the better fighter on the night. His straight left/right hook combo's landed hard and often. His power is indeed very visible in the fight and Boza was very heavily dropped a few times and hurt badly. The last time he went down he couldn't beat the count. He'd taken loads of punishment in the round and a half prior. I'd forgotten how hard Rolando banged.
